🚨 Sanctuary Wildfires Update:
New 🔥 Fire Confirmed 🚨

We're writing to share an update regarding the rapidly changing fire conditions in our immediate area.

🔥 While we have been closely tracking the massive Aspen Acres Fire, a brand new wildfire much closer to us, the Pole Canyon Fire has just been confirmed by the Huerfano County Fire Protection District. Firefighters and air support are already on the scene making water drops, but because this new fire has sparked significantly closer to us, we are upgrading our readiness immediately.

📍Where things stand for the Sanctuary right now:

The previous Fire Advisory boundary for the Aspen Acres Fire already brought the active zone to within 7 miles north of us (running along CO-69 to Red Rock Road). With the Pole Canyon Fire now active in Huerfano County, this fire is encroaching much closer to our boundaries.

We are treating this development with the absolute utmost seriousness. While we saw some spotted showers on radar, the erratic winds and new smoke mean conditions can shift instantly.

🔥 Current Fire Statuses

🔥 NEW Pole Canyon Fire: Newly reported in Huerfano County. Ground crews and air support are actively responding to contain the blaze. We are tracking this minute-by-minute as it represents the most immediate threat to our sanctuary perimeter. Currently at 5 acres but we know quickly and drastically conditions can change. Hopefully they can get it contained fast especially since the winds are currently blowing it towards us 😔

🔥 Aspen Acres Fire: Size is holding at roughly 96,031 acres with 15% containment. The advisory area remains active north of Highway 69 to Red Rock Road and east to I-25.

📋 Our Current Emergency Plan:
Because of the Pole Canyon Fire's proximity, we have officially moved into high-alert status.

🛻 Trailer & Evac Prep:
All of our evacuation trailers are ready (thank you for the tires Karen!).

Emergency crates are put together, organized, and staged for our larger, smaller, and special-needs residents. Smaller crates/carriers and others items still needed from our Amazon Wish lists.

🛻 If we are placed under a pre-evacuation or mandatory evacuation, everything is set so we can begin moving our residents immediately to ensure everyone's absolute safety.

Yes the economy will get better the Dow Jones is already up, why? Because big corporations know that he’ll lift all regulations and that he doesn’t care about protecting the animals or earth, that they can do whatever they want.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

All day long whether I drive down the road or go to the supermarket and look in people’s carts, or here on social media, I see tortured, exploited, murdered animals, buildings, cars, garbage, mindless, robotic people. Every day I want out. My dogs need me.
