Embody Massage and Yoga
Jessica has been a massage therapist since 2007. Jessica loves to further her education in her down time.
Since graduating Namaste Institute, she has specialized the deep tissue, relaxation techniques, and body treatments. Her massage training came full circle when she participated in Shiva Shakti School of Yoga’s first class of certified yoga instructors. This furthered her belief that the body and mind are one in the same, and nurturing one will only benefit the other. She is certified in Mother Mas
In light of today’s heartbreaking new number of cases, I want to make sure my COVID policies are very clear and very public. Each new client receives this verbally or via text or email as well. There is no way to give a socially distant massage. I have to depend on the following measures and trusting that others are following them as well. These policies are in place to protect my clients, my community, my friends, and myself. Deep thanks to each of you for our continued health and safety.
These apply to everyone regardless of vaccination status.
*If you or anyone in your household or close proximity has symptoms of/exposure to COVID, DO NOT COME IN. Call me. We will reschedule at a more appropriate time. This applies to everyone regardless of vaccination status.
*Masks are required the whole time we are in the building. I have extra disposables available in the treatment room.
*Please minimize what you bring into the room and keep what you do bring on the chair or the designated tray. I sanitize between each client and this helps me keep track of which communal spaces need extra attention.
Again, thank you. I am so honored to be in practice and able to serve our community.
❤️Jess

Yesterday I saw a new client and, though I'd recently made masks optional in my treatment room, I've decided to return to requiring masks (except facedown in the face cradle, if that's too suffocating to the client). I also decided, for the first time, to work double-masked.
The good news is once the session got going, I didn't have a thought or discomfort about being double-masked. And the session went very well - the client was blown away and re-booked.
The good news that I'm sure all therapists feel, at least some of the time, is once we begin doing the hands-on work, so much else disappears while we work - our own physical complaints, mental chatter, excess self-criticism, overall self-pre-occupation.
This is certainly one reason why the profession of massage therapy at its best is a wonderful and healthy one.
For me, it is a kind of meditation often better than sitting meditation - since when I sit and meditate, I am often focused on what's going on in me. When I massage, I blissfully take a vacation from myself, and explore the world of the client and how I may be of best service to them.
One year into this space were we have had to weigh the safety of closeness versus distance, touch versus space... ugh. My colleagues in the massage field and myself continue to offer bodywork and healing while keeping ourselves, our loved ones, and our dear clients safe. It was honestly a hard choice to come back to work back in July. I am so grateful to be here offering a service that opens my heart more everyday. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

My dear clients, as of Monday March 16 I will be temporarily closing my office. Again, this is temporary. This is very much not an act of fear, but an act of love for our community and the interconnectedness that holds us strong. Providing massage, touch, and calming presence during times of anxiety has always been an honor. It is a time to step back and ensure that members of my practice that may be vulnerable are given space and safety. I will be offering yoga Nidra and guided mindfulness sessions during this time. If you have any questions, please call or text.
Love always, Jess

We accomplish this by first contracting the psoas in poses that face forward, then in poses that face the side. We complete the series with the twisting postures.
