Progress being made and looking very pretty. Siding is finished and porch rails are happening now since I am finished with today's appointments. Sure do love that husband of mine and want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we get this finished. Y'all rock and have been keeping me quiet busy.

My new business cards
02/21/2026
Wow it just doesn't seem real. I have been in this unit for 14 years and been owner of the Salon for 10 years. In exactly one week from today this chapter is complete. It was a wonderful chapter in my life and I have made many new friends over the years. I know this was just a building it was not the heart of the salon. Changes have to happen for growth to occur and as I approach my 60s I am preparing to slow down and enjoy life and my husband/family more. That being said a new chapter is on the horizon and big things are happening. The past 2 days have been even busier than the last week, but we have heavy equipment up on the hill putting the finishing touches on my next adventure. Stay tuned more to come and March 1, 2026 is the beginning. The heart is still here, just working on the new building.

3:15pm UPDATE: Snow is piling up faster than bad decisions at Party Cove in the late 90s y’all! If you absolutely don’t have to go out then don’t, if you do… don’t 😬
8:45am UPDATE: Alright folks, here’s the deal: Side roads? Still covered. Highways? Basically the same. If you’ve got all-wheel drive or 4x4, you might be okay… if you take it slow and drive like you have some sense.
Your car’s ability to go fast in the snow does not mean it can stop fast. So unless you’re secretly a rally driver (and let’s be honest, you’re not). There are drivers on the road with ALL levels of skill, who may unexpectedly be in your lane so please SLOW DOWN!
And just so we’re clear, if I have to pull you over today, you will be getting a citation. That’s not a threat, just the facts. Stay safe, drive smart, and let’s not meet the hard way today.
Original 02/18/2025: Gooooooooood mooooorning Sunrise Beach, and whoever else this reaches! If you are thinking about leaving your house today then let me stop you right there! You’re likely not getting that far unless you have a Tauntaun and a lightsaber. Every road is covered in a thick, glistening layer of “NOPE,” and slicker than a jelly donut on a hot dashboard (don’t ask me how I know 😬). If you must drive make sure your car is equipped with skis, a sled dog team or divine intervention.
Closures?
Oh, we’ve got closures! It’s like a ghost town out here. Schools, businesses, even that one guy who always insists, “I’ll be open no matter what”! Yeah, even he gave up. This, my friends, is a day for cozying up, grabbing a hot beverage and binge watching some ‘90s comedy classics. Maybe Dumb and Dumber if you want to see how bad driving in this could go, or Tommy Boy to remind you that fat guys in little coats should not be out in this weather. Or even Groundhog Day, because let’s be honest, shoveling your driveway today is just practice for doing it again tomorrow. If slapstick isn’t your thing, maybe a John Wayne western, where the only thing tougher than The Duke himself is the poor guy trying to plow these roads.
The Forecast:
Today: Snow. Heavy at times. High near 12°. Wind chill as low as -7°. Winds from the northeast at 10-13 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph. Expect 3 to 5 inches of fresh powder, perfect for skiing, snow angels, or regretting every life choice that led to owning a long driveway.
Tonight: Even more snow, because why not? Low around 2°. Wind chill still an insulting -7°. Winds at 6-8 mph with gusts up to 18 mph. Another 1 to 3 inches of snow expected. By morning, we’ll officially be buried deeper than that embarrassing picture of your middle school haircut. (BONUS points for sharing that pic in the comments!)
Road Conditions:
BAD! Snow-packed, ice-covered and slipperier than a politician at a press conference. State, county, and Sunrise Beach road crews are working hard but this mess isn’t going away anytime soon. If you’re thinking, “Maybe I’ll just run to town real quick” be assured, the only thing running will be your car… into a ditch.
As for us, we’re here if you need us! But given how bad it’s getting, we’re only responding to emergencies. So unless you’ve been kidnapped by a yeti or your house is being invaded by a family of raccoons in tiny snowshoes, let’s all hunker down and stay safe and warm. If you must go outside make sure to wear layers and that it’s only to let the new pup make a fresh batch of yellow snow.
