WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY. 🤎

For the moms who are tired in ways a good night’s sleep can’t fix.

For the women who are always checking on everybody else, but rarely get asked, “Hey, but how are YOU really doing?”

For the moms who are touched out, overwhelmed, overstimulated, and running on empty, but keep going because their babies still need them.

I think sometimes people forget that moms are human, too.

We can love our babies more than anything in this world and STILL need a break from being needed.

Sometimes we don’t need a bubble bath, a shopping trip, or someone telling us to practice self-care.

Sometimes we just need 30 minutes where nobody is pulling on us, climbing on us, calling our name, or needing something from us.

We need quiet. We need space to breathe. We need a moment where we aren’t responsible for absolutely everything.

And sometimes, the hardest part is feeling like you have to keep showing up for everyone else when you’re struggling yourself. You reach out, you try to explain that you’re not okay, and you hope someone will notice that you need a little extra love, too.

But when you’re used to being the strong one, people don’t always realize how much you’re carrying.

If I’m being honest, this is something I understand more than I wish I did.

So today, I want to remind you that you are allowed to be human. You’re allowed to feel overwhelmed. You’re allowed to need help. You’re allowed to love your children with your entire soul and still need time to yourself.

Taking a break doesn’t make you a bad mom. Needing support doesn’t make you weak. And struggling doesn’t mean you’re failing.

You are a whole person outside of motherhood, outside of the responsibilities you carry, and outside of everything you do for everyone else.

And that’s one of the things I love about what I do with SunKissed Cowgirl. I get to create a little space for women to do something for themselves, feel confident, and take a moment that’s just theirs. Because you deserve to feel cared for, too.

Today, check on your strong friend. Check on the mama who always says she’s fine. Check on the woman who seems to have it all together.

You can love being a mom and still need a break from being needed. Both can be true.
