United Council of Rohingya (UCR) was represented to attend a program titled "Roundtable Dialogue Session: Towards Ten Years of Solidarity – From Emergency Response to Sustainable Solutions," organized by the NGOs Platform Cox's Bazar, supported by Switzerland, and hosted by Plan International.
Khin Maung and Sajida Begum, President members of UCR, represented as panelists in the first session. Khin Maung highlighted the urgent needs of the Rohingya and the host community, and called on the international community to develop a unified roadmap for repatriation and to support the host community, who are deeply affected and have suffered greatly. Sajida Begum shared her experience of the gaps and challenges in humanitarian support and development.
Khin Maung also called for increased funding for the host community and stronger social cohesion between the two communities. He emphasized that repatriation is the top priority, along with sustainable solutions for the Rohingya community.
Also present at the program were Mr. Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan, Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (Deputy Secretary); Mr. Md. Khorshed Alam, Superintendent of Police, DIG FDMN Office, Cox's Bazar; and Mr. Ivo Freijsen, Representative, UNHCR.
We thank everyone, especially Oxfam, for the invitation to today's event, which gave us the opportunity to raise our concerns and share our views.

In a letter to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, 18 members of Fortify Rights’s Leadership Council—comprising former foreign ministers, a former U.S. ambassador, a British parliamentarian, an international prosecutor, and leading human rights advocates—urge Malaysia to halt further returns, restore UNHCR access to immigration detention centers, and ensure independent assessments of detainees’ protection needs.
“The government should withdraw the invitation and suspend further returns to Myanmar until independent assessments establish that people are choosing freely and can return safely," said Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar, a member of the Fortify Rights Leadership Council and former Malaysian Foreign Minister.
“Malaysia should protect people fleeing atrocities and pursue diplomacy that advances civilian protection and accountability in Myanmar," said Matthew Smith, CEO of Fortify Rights.

Quality education means having quality teachers.
For refugee learners, one great teacher can ensure a path to a brighter future. Three great teachers is a gamechanger.
And no one knows this better than Leila, Suleiman and Weli.
