Our bodies are constantly adapting to how we move, sit, stand, and live. No one is perfectly aligned all the time—not even those of us who do this work every day!
Lately, my hip has been bothering me. Why? My lifestyle has included a lot more time sitting in the car than usual.
Every human body gets out of balance from time to time. The difference is that I've learned how to recognize what my body is telling me and give it what it needs to move back toward better function more quickly. Why stay uncomfortable any longer than necessary?
Today's video is a glimpse into my own rebalancing process. Believe me, part of me just wanted to lie down and not move! But after a short Egoscue posture therapy menu, I was moving and feeling noticeably better. I'm so glad I took the time to start my day this way.
A balanced body simply feels and functions better.
Listen to what your body is telling you before a small imbalance becomes a bigger problem.
Thanks for being here.
Move better. Feel better. Live better.

📞 "Hello, this is your shoulder speaking..."
Donna comes in each week to stay aligned, active, and fit in her seventies. We move, we laugh, and enjoy each other's company.
One Friday she walked into the clinic and made a funny gesture, as though her shoulder was calling her on the phone.
"I was sitting at my desk this week and my shoulder was burning," she said. "It felt like my shoulder was saying, 'Hello, this is your shoulder speaking. Could you please sit up straight?'"
We both laughed, but there was an important lesson hidden in her story.
We can't change what we're not aware of.
For months, Donna had been faithfully doing her Egoscue exercises. She would leave the clinic more aligned, yet often return the following week with one shoulder sitting higher than the other.
So we became curious.
What was happening during the other 23 hours of her day?
I asked Donna to pay attention to how she sits, stands, drives, and moves throughout her day.
That's when she discovered something important. Whenever she drove her truck, she leaned to one side and rested one arm on the armrest. Over time, that habit contributed to her shoulders becoming uneven and one hip being tighter than the other.
Egoscue exercises are powerful. Staying active is important. But our daily habits matter too.
The small things we do repeatedly can either support our alignment or slowly pull us away from it.
So here's your reminder:
✔ Do your Egoscue exercises.
✔ Stay active and keep moving.
✔ Reset your posture throughout the day.
✔ Pay attention to your habits.
A more balanced body feels better, functions better, and allows you to enjoy life more fully.
What is your body trying to tell you today?

A client made me smile this week with an answer I wasn't expecting.
🚨 Have you ever done a "risk assessment" before bending over to pick something up?
This week, I asked a client what the highlight of his week was.
He paused for a moment, laughed, and said, "I picked up my wife's glasses off the floor!"
Of course, I had to ask him to explain.
He told me that whenever something ends up on the floor, he has to decide whether it's worth bending over to get it. The fear? That his back might "go out."
If you've ever hesitated before picking something up, loading groceries, gardening, installing a child seat, making the bed, or even tying your shoes, you're not alone.
Another client this week, a grandmother of two young children, asked me, "Have you ever tried installing child seats in the back seat of a car?" She shared the same concern about her back.
The truth is, bending shouldn't be a dangerous activity.
Our hips, spine, and shoulders are designed to work together as a team. When the body is balanced and aligned, everyday movements become easier, safer, and more comfortable.
That's what I love about Egoscue. The exercises help restore balance and function so your body can do what it's meant to do—whether that's picking something up off the floor, gardening, crabbing, playing with grandchildren, or simply moving through daily life with confidence.
One of my personal favorites is the Airbench. It helps release tension in my back, keeps my hips balanced, and strengthens my legs.
What's your favorite Egoscue exercise that helps you feel more confident in your body? I'd love to hear!

✨ The Weekly Reset: Why Recovery Workouts Matter ✨
A common theme popped up in our Egoscue of Portland clinic this week: the need for recovery.
Several clients arrived feeling depleted, tired, overwhelmed, and “wired but tired.” The reasons were different for everyone — home remodel stress, family emergencies, work pressure, sport workouts, chronic joint pain, uncertainty around surgery decisions, and the general weight of everyday life.
Our bodies are always communicating with us.
They whisper first:
• tension
• fatigue
• irritability
• stiffness
• poor sleep
• brain fog
But many of us have been conditioned to push through and keep going. If we don’t listen to the whispers, eventually the body gets louder until we are forced to stop.
This week, we designed recovery exercise menus for several clients — gentle restorative Egoscue sequences focused on calming the nervous system, releasing unnecessary tension, improving alignment, and helping the body shift out of stress mode.
What was interesting was the response:
“Oh… I didn’t know that was an option.”
Many people think recovery simply means collapsing on the couch and watching a movie. And while rest and downtime absolutely matter (we’re all for cozy recovery too!), true recovery is also something we can actively train.
The nervous system often needs guidance to remember how to relax.
The right restorative exercises can help:
✨ reduce tension before pain intensifies
✨ calm the mind and body
✨ improve breathing and posture
✨ restore energy reserves
✨ create a deeper sense of ease and resilience
Each person left the clinic this week feeling calmer, lighter, more hopeful, and more connected to their body.
Recovery is not weakness, it is preventive maintenance to stay strong to keep doing the things we love. A balanced body functions and feels better.
Do you have practices or exercises that help you truly relax, recover and recharge?
Take good care of your mind and body. 💛

🌟 Client Spotlight: Mick – Back on the Board 🌊
When Mick first came to us last July, he was dealing with a fractured talus in his right foot, shoulder discomfort, and the kind of compensations that can show up after injury. Surfing, biking, and staying active are a big part of his life — so getting back to the water was the goal.
Fast forward months of consistent work with Egoscue posture therapy…
✔️ His foot has healed
✔️ His shoulders are more balanced
✔️ His gait is smooth and aligned
✔️ And his posture is looking amazing
Most importantly?
He’s back surfing. 🏄♂️
From carefully rebuilding movement after a fracture to paddling out again, Mick stayed committed to restoring function, balance, and strength in his body.
It’s always incredible to see what happens when the body gets back into proper alignment and motion.
Way to go, Mick — we love seeing you back on the board and doing what you love!

Holiday time is fast approaching and it is sometimes easy to let our posture and health goals slip... join Greg and Laura today for an Instagram Live at 11am PT/ 2 pm ET to reignite your WHY and be intentional about being at your best now and for the holidays.
Your 3-Step Guide to Staying Aligned & Enjoying the Holiday Season Pain-Free!
The holidays are here! Travel, gatherings, late nights, and long to-do lists can make it feel almost impossible to stay consistent with your Egoscue routine. Routines slip fast, but your health doesn't have to.
Here’s the powerful truth: Your body thrives on small, intentional wins, not perfection. The secret to consistency during this busy time is recognizing that small investments now pay off in a big way later. When time is limited, the key is to refocus on your original WHY! Remember that initial goal? The freedom from pain? The energy to play with your kids? That original WHY is your most powerful fuel for motivation when time is scarce.
A few minutes a day is enough to protect your gains and set yourself up for incredible momentum. Staying consistent now means you can focus on making memories instead of managing pain.
Imagine starting the New Year feeling fantastic and ahead of the curve, not catching up on weeks of pain and limitation! Join us for a FREE IG LIVE where we show you how to leverage your motivation, feel better, and support your body with just a few minutes a day, so you can truly savor every moment of the season.
