Tips for your curls :
Products are VERY necessary to keep curls in their perfect condition.
Your curls are not necessarily damaged, but I’ll bet they’re thirsty. Curls need moisture.
Learn your curls’ patterns; how they respond to heat, humidity, and touch.
Embrace your curls!

Why having an educated hairstylist is an asset to you:

1. A good education will allow your stylist to make the proper decisions in which chemicals to use or not use in your hair.

2. A good education will ensure that your stylist knows proper application of chemicals.

3. A good education will give your stylist the confidence to educate you, the client, about what is appropriate for your hair/lifestyle.

4. A well-educated stylist will know when your hair has had enough.

To hairdressers: you are not educated just because you got your license. Further education, training, classes, forums, assisting…are necessary in your future success and well-being of your clientele.

To clients: just because your hairstylist graduated and passed their Boards, does not necessarily make them proficient. It’s ok to ask what continuing education and/or experience they have had with the services you are seeking.

With the business moving in to the space rental/solitary stylist direction…new stylists are getting licensed and then going for it without any further real-life training. While self-confidence can be a plus, it doesn’t mean there is experience, and therefore big problems can arise.
Know who you’re working with.

Attached is a perfect example of what happens when hair has been literally bleached to death. We call this a chemical haircut. This young lady’s hair should be uniformly at her collar bone…as you can see..the back of her head has broken off leaving only a few inches of viable hair. This was a result of her stylist overlapping color, and not knowing when to recognize the hair’s distress. This ultimately led the hair to massive breakage. In order to maintain the damaged, but not-beyond-help hair…we did a big haircut to even things back out. Now the long process comes of time and healing, and eventual color correction.

It’s your stylist’s job to ask the right questions and make sure your hair will receive its best treatment.
