Happy Wedding Wednesday! I love that each of our brides is able to express themselves through our work. Annassa had a clear vision for her union at the Salamandar.

My social media has been DEAD because I frankly have a love/hate relationship with the platforms and their false sense of reality. Aside from the annual bday letting people know I’m alive, I'm more present in life. After multiple clients reached out, here’s a bit of a life and business update. I’ve been vocal about being a caregiver but not so much about almost losing my mom at the end of 2023. Each day is battle between being grateful she’s here and the reality of how her illness has robbed her of so much. Between work travel and makeup, I am maximizing my time at home and engaging with her.

My love for the “business” of makeup has completely waned partly due to the aforementioned but also because of the urgency the social media age has created for small business owners. I poured into the business, missing personal and family events and just overall struggled to maintain a balanced life. The realization set in that I couldn't continue functioning at that level for my mental and physical health. Sitting in traffic, fighting for parking, allergies, and climbing stairs with 60 lbs of equipment was taxing. Is this a complaint, absolutely not, because I have a passion for the joy, the magic I am able to bring to my clients in some of their most cherished moments.

So, what does this mean for Modernly Beautiful Makeup? Simple, I am still accepting clients, BUT I will no longer be traveling for individual appointments. You are still able to book if you’re open to coming to Upper Marlboro, MD, where you have plenty of parking, refreshments, and conversation lol. As a bonus, I am already set up and ready to go upon arrival. I know this change will not work for some, so here are a few options. For those living in the southern part of the area check out Beautifully You. by Mia and Vays Beauty (they travel). For our northern ladies , (she travels), and Tanesha Williams Beauty. I've never worked in a bubble and have had the joy to work alongside these ladies for a few years.

I don't take for granted the trust many of you placed in me and love you all!

About a month ago, a long-time client asked if I would be able to do her makeup the day before she'd be attending a wedding in Texas. I laughed and said I can find you an artist in Texas. She said no, I'll be fine. This photo was taken over 24hrs after her appointment and following a 3.5hr flight with a mask.

Just know I appreciate you all to the moon & back. Thank you for always trusting and believing in me. Each time I feel like shutting down, God reminds me of my purpose.

Back to hibernation, lol.

Happy May! So a few new clients reached out because I've been inactive on social media and my website for some reason went offline (I hope it wasn't down too long lol). So I thought it was time to come out of hiding 😶‍🌫️. I'm still around, still doing makeup just a little less, trying to be more present in my everyday life, continuing to figure out what a balanced life looks like, and most of all juggling a million things but learning that it's okay to say no sometimes. Social media content provides a sneak peek into all things happening so I'll do better but it still may not be consistent.

Thank you to everyone who has been on this funky roller-coaster with me the last year, I appreciate you and more than ever thanks for being flexible as I've adjusted and grown into this new phase of my life. Sending a million hugs and kisses! And shot out to I snuck a few pieces to channel a bit of your style.
