SELF CARE. We are given only one body, mind, and soul to last us through this life. So why not take care of it?

As a western society, we are often over-worked, which can lead us to pushing our general well-being to the back burner. Work, family, the happenings of everyday—all components of life that make it challenging to even think about what YOU need to keep your head above water. But you know, with a little self-care, you can go from treading water to floating gracefully and weightlessly through life.

First, let’s stomp that common misconception that self care is selfish. Especially as a parent, this can be difficult. When we learn to detract from life and listen to our own needs, we generally become better people; better in the sense that we can become tuned to our own feelings, which in turn enables us to express and show more love and empathy to those around us. Essentially, we are filling our emotional cups with self-respect and self-love, giving our families and loved ones more access to the love and care we have to offer. The lifelong cliché remains true—“take care of yourself first or you will have nothing left to give others.”

Self-care can take many forms, and it doesn’t have to cost money! It can be as simple as staying hydrated, exercising, eating healthy, de-cluttering a space, reading a book, meditating, going to bed early; the list goes on and on. You can even take your self-care to the next level by adding massage into your monthly routine. Have we mentioned the benefits to getting a regular massage? To refresh your memory, it reduces anxiety/depression, reduces headaches, boosts immune system function, promotes better nights sleep, among many other benefits. On top of massage benefits, you will also reap the rewards of practicing self-care! Some of which include: better productivity, improved resistances to disease, better physical health, enhanced self-esteem, increased self-knowledge, and having more of yourself to give. What is there to lose?

Day 21 of 21 Thankful for Massage Therapy

We are thankful for massage therapy because it improves posture and promotes deeper breathing.

Massage can relax and loosen the muscles made sore by bad posture, allowing your body to position itself in its natural-and pain-free-posture. With ongoing massage, the muscles are loosened and relaxed-joints have greater freedom and pressure points are relieved.

With better posture, we allow our body to open up and breathe deeper. Deeper breathing provides oxygen to our vital organs. Providing oxygen to our vital organs promotes a healthier gut...and as we know, a healthier gut equals a healthier brain!

Massage is an effective and beneficial treatment to decrease the feeling of stress. Stress is the body's way of responding to physical and emotional demands.

Massage helps to reduce stress by lowering the heart, promoting relaxation and simulating the release of feel good hormones. Stress can be related to sport and exercise. Massage can help to control and relieve emotions of stress.

A couple weeks ago, a client brought in their Hypervolt Massage Gun to use during their massage 💆🏾‍♂️ session. Of course I was all about it! This was my first time using the Hypervolt. I could definitely tell the difference in how it helped the tissue! I would massage the body part, then use the Hypervolt and then massage the area again and could feel a huge difference in the release of the tissue!

I loved it so much that I got one ordered for the my practice!! I am excited to have this as an added service benefit for my clients!
