Let’s Take the Embarrassment Out of Lice 💗

One of the hardest parts about finding lice isn’t always dealing with the lice—it’s telling the people you’ve recently been around.

But please don’t be embarrassed.

Lice can happen to any family. It doesn’t mean your child is dirty, your house isn’t clean, or you did something wrong.

If your child has had close contact with friends or family, giving them a heads-up is one of the kindest things you can do. It gives them the opportunity to check their household early.

And you don’t need to have an awkward conversation or explain everything. Copy and paste this:

“Hey! I just wanted to give you a heads-up that we found lice. Since the kids were together recently, I wanted to let you know so you can check everyone at home. I know it’s not the most fun message to send, but I’d want someone to tell me too. 💗”

No blaming. No trying to figure out where it started. And definitely no shame.

If someone sends you a message like this, be kind. They probably weren’t excited to send it either.

The more comfortable we become talking about lice, the easier it is for families to look out for one another.
