Emotional imbalance can lead to big mistakes in your business and personal life 🥀

Experiencing stressful situations and having no time to unwind can lead to psychological distress. The thought of dealing with life’s stress can feel impossible, and many people choose to ignore or avoid dealing with problems that come along.

But what is emotional balance and how do you achieve it? Typically in the heat of the moment or an unwanted situation, we react with strong emotions— anxiety, worry, sadness, anger, etc.

Having emotional balance is the practice of balancing these unwanted emotions and using effective ways of dealing with them so that you don’t end up stuck. It also can increase happiness and improve motivation to do things differently so you get a good night’s rest.

Using the SUN method helps with identifying where you’re at and brings you to a place of awareness. By being aware of our emotions, we can then tackle them in a safer, more effective way rather than letting them overrun our lives.

What emotions do you find yourself feeling most lately? Let’s chat in the comments! 👇🏼

Camera vs IPhone 🤓

I use a DSLR mostly in salon to capture all of my hair photos and since moving to a space with natural light from my windows, it’s a must have for me!

I mainly use portrait mode on my camera to smooth, soften, and focus on the clients face. I can adjust brightness to help show off those details more and make the photo pop! I don’t edit too much but when I do, I use Lightroom to adjust exposure slightly, soften texture, or heal any spots around the face. I’m NO expert!

You don’t need to be a photographer to start utilizing a camera for your hair photos. It just takes practice, trying different angles/lighting, finding you favorite spot, and leaning on industry educators who help teach salon photography!

Not everyone uses a camera and THAT’S OKAY! For my business it was a game changer to help my portfolio POP! I mean these photos are unedited!

So no matter what, if you find something you love to utilize in your business, no matter what it is, just be sure you are growing and learning about that to! 💫

You may not be one for for NY resolutions but you need to do this..

Focus on YOU. Here’s a couple ways you can commit to a healthier you in the New Year 👇🏼

1. Stop saying YES to anything and everything. We all know that certain type of people pleaser (um hi 👋🏼). Know your limit. Take opportunities that bring you joy. Say no to things that don’t and stop expecting yourself to keep up when you feel drained.

2. Find your release. This is a favorite because it allows you to try new or even old things. Whether it’s reading, crafting, meditation, hiking, baking, or anything beyond that. Something that you truly love to do, and do it in peace. Take a moment to really focus in on that one thing and let your mind pause for that moment in time.

I really love spending a day going to the book store and my favorites coffee spots. Sometimes I’ll even pop by the local plant shops to treat myself! 🍃

3. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself and your body. Of course a new hair color is always a good option- but even a massage, going to the chiropractor, going to therapy, trying that new restaurant by yourself, antique shopping, going to the record store.. the list is endless and catered to what YOU love. Because you deserve the little things this year.

I hope you find what you’re passionate about. I hope you take time for you. And I hope you give yourself grace this year as you take on more seasons changing.

What’s something you are going to do for yourself this year?

Brighter days (and hair) ahead! What are you letting go of in the New Year? 💭

I’ll go first—

In 2022, I’m letting go of EXPECTATIONS 👋🏼

In my personal life and career path especially as a mother and business owner, as a woman, as a wife, and so much more.

Expectations weigh us down. We ourselves create these unrealistic visions on how we think certain aspects of our lives should be AND we let other dictate those situations as well. Maybe they aren’t even telling you them, but it’s the way we compare our own stories to others.

So I’m saying NO to the comparison game, and letting my own story beautifully unfold the way it’s supposed to. On my time and my way.

Tell me yours and let’s smash them together 🔨

And we’re almost back from a well rested holiday 🍃

I’ve been cleaning up my office over my little break and let me tell you, I’m so excited to start fresh in the new year. I think it’s so important to slow down and the end of this year really helped shine some light on that.

I worked so hard to get to this point that I also forgot to take time for me and ended up feeling a bit overwhelmed which this resulted in education burnout. On top of that not having a sacred place for my business things and always something added to my to do list did not help.

So a reminder as we enter the new year, take it slow. One goal at a time. But don’t forget to add your self care to that list to. ☕️

Cheers to brighter paths! I hope your holiday was amazing! I’ll be in the studio later this week and returning all messages then. ✨
