Had a blast lighting her up for spring ✨
But just so I’m clear—
we’re all using the 1.5” iron again…
bringing the bangs forward…
and acting like we invented it?
What in the 90s world is happening 😂 No hate, it wasn’t wrong then and it ain’t wrong now! 😘😩

Stepping out of my comfort zone. 💕
Just a little glimpse of some things I’ve been working on lately.😉💕

It’s not the length.
It’s not just the color.
It’s the balance.
When highlights grow out unevenly, the hair starts to look dry and busy.
Today we:
• softened the lines
• balanced the dimension
• refreshed tone
• sealed the shine
The goal isn’t lighter hair.
The goal is hair that looks intentional.

Steamy espresso ☕️ I’ve been wanting to do this color for a while, and when our virtual receptionist showed me the inspo she picked, my heart fluttered a little, not just because I got to create a shade I love, but because I knew it would look good on her.
When choosing hair color, it’s not about chasing trends. It’s about understanding skin tone and undertone. Rich espresso shades work beautifully when the depth and warmth in the hair reflect what’s already present in the skin. The right color doesn’t compete with your feature, it enhances them!

You have to work with what you have.
Straight hair behaves like straight hair. Wavy hair behaves like wavy hair.
Texture, density, and natural separation all change how lightness should be placed. What works on one canvas won’t work the same way on another and that’s the point.
This before & after shows refining placement based on how the hair actually falls, not how we wish it would. By adjusting where brightness starts and stops to match texture and density, we preserve depth, improve blend, and create movement that looks natural and grows out beautifully.
Balayage is like dancing, every time the music changes, so must the movement. 🩷

When using the natural hair as your shadow, precision starts before the paddle—not on it.
The crossover point comes after the tapping or skimming in a crochet, where ever you introduce the crossover, you introduce brightness. That subtle lift from the skimming shows you exactly where the depth should remain intact as it travels along the section. If you cross over to the paddle too soon, the depth is lifted too high in the section and you loose the depth.
If you are painting on auto pilot or habit, you will end up over painting and losing the anchor of the depth.
Step back from the canvas.
Read the peaks and valleys.
Allow the hair to dictate placement—not habit.
This approach does three critical things:
• Controls the natural depth
• Prevents unnecessary saturation
• Creates dimensional contrast that reads intentional, not overworked
Advanced balayage isn’t about adding more product.
It’s about understanding where not to paint and where to cross over. 🩷

Oh, it’s about that time…
✨ 2026 Balayage Education is officially firing up.
First class of 2026 was today in Columbus, Georgia at the for the TIEGA Winter conference. .foreveryoungsalon and I had a blast!
I’m opening my calendar and looking for host salons who want clear technique, strong theory, and education that actually translates behind the chair. I’m also offering an advanced class this year with a live model!
If your team is ready to refine their balayage, understand the why (not just the how), and leave confident—let’s talk.
📩 DM me to host a 2026 class in your salon!
