Nails did, hair did, everything did… lol
But really, I feel so girly. Half the time I keep my nails natural and the other half of the time they are covered in hair color.
I decided to treat myself and get me some fancy nails. Subtle of course, cause me. But y’all, I feel so c u t e !
I know that probably sounds silly because it’s just nails. Maybe that’s how some people feel when I talk about how good extensions make you feel? But it’s true.

No one can really prepare you for entrepreneurship. It’s one of those jobs that you don’t ‘get it’ until you do it. so many life lessons along this wild journey and I’m grateful for each and every one of them.
A few things I’ve learned along the way:
It’s a lot of long days & late nights. No sees the hustle behind the scenes. No one, not even your own employees, will understand the time & attention to detail that you have poured into your business. You have to be ok working without a cheerleader. Be your own damn cheerleader and get disciplined.
The job is never ‘finished’ because there is always something to do. The contestant grind can become draining. Make sure you find pockets of time to recharge & be around the people who fill your cup. I always feel more creative after spending time with the ones I care about.
There is constant pressure to stay innovative and creative in order to stay relevant. This pressure can become overwhelming and sometimes point you in the wrong direction. Have a clear mission statement and know WHY you started your business in the first place. Don’t keep up with the Jone’s, stay clear and on brand for your company.
Create a space that you would want to work in. It’s important to take a step back and view your business through your employees eyes. Have you created an environment you would choose to work in even if you didn’t own it?

C o n n e c t i o n
I have always enjoyed connecting with other people. My favorite way of connecting is having them sit in my chair. People magically become more open when they land in my chair.
There is real vulnerability and deeper conversations when someone is sitting in my chair and allowing me in their ‘bubble’. I learn so much from having the opportunity to work with such a vast range of people.
It was one of the things I missed most about work when in quarantine.
Now I’m learning a new form of connection. This form of connection make me feel more vulnerable than ever before… mentoring.
Connecting with my apprentices and helping them grow is probably one of the most kick ass things I’ve done.
It’s a lot of hard work, behind the scenes prepping/ planning, patience, attention to detail, time, and sprinkled with a little self doubt just to top it off.
But man, it’s all ducking worth it when you see the growth. When there is a visual/physical form of ‘sh*t, I helped them produce that work’. It’s what I imagine a maternal feeling would be like. So proud of my babies!
They came to me with zero experience with hair extensions and now I have two of them sewing in clean & seamless rows.intentionssalon went through school during the pandemic and never had hands on work!?! Crazy, right. But now, look at this beautiful color transformation I walked her through.
I couldn’t be more proud of the work my team is producing and how far they have come. It’s the most rewarding connection I’ve made thus far in my life.
So yeah, my conclusion is the more you work for a connection, any connection, the more you get out of it and fulfilling it can be.

If the extensions don’t have hidden beads and lay completely flat, I don’t want it.
My clients don’t either.
Having beaded rows with exposed beads is SO five years ago.

Julia and her team are beyond impressive. The salon is not only beautiful but spotless and comfortable. When I first went for a consult on color and extensions, Julia took her time with all my questions, a complete history and explained not only the whole process but why she was doing each step. After being sick and having a dramatic change in my hair I appreciated it so much. Yesterday I went for color with Julia and another stylist Brandon assisted and they surpassed my expectations. They did a beautiful clean job and I walked out amazed how a couple hours was an entire transformation. Today I had 3 rows of custom colored extensions put in and couldn't be happier. For the first time in a long time I allowed someone to take my picture I felt so confident. Julia is vastly knowledgeable in her field and I was personally so impressed that she was not only answering and teaching me about my new hair care and styling routine but mentoring the other stylist and an assistant as she was going through the process. I think the saying goes ‘don’t fix it if it ain’t broken’, or something like that. My only issue with this philosophy is that you could miss out on some amazing opportunities.
Five years ago, I was all in love with NBR hair extensions. Sure, they were great, my clients were happy, I was having major success installing them and everything was peachy.
