Covid-19 & Permanent Makeup
As a retired RN, I take your health and safety very seriously above and beyond any regulations or guidance. Before Covid-19 hit our shores, my cleanliness and safety were ahead of the regulations.
In NC, Permanent Makeup falls under the Tattoo Licensing and requires an annual inspection. The standards are to ensure your health and safety and inspections are done in every licensed facility. The term Licensed means a Health Inspection has been done, while the term Certified could mean almost nothing.
North Carolina has NO Certification for Permanent Makeup and you may not know that anyone can get a weekend certification to ‘practice’ Permanent Makeup. These ‘classes’ may only involve practice on a rubber dummy & never work on real skin.
There are two established organizations that have meticulous hands-on training courses using real models for training. Following successful training, you are eligible for certification, which is detailed & requires a demonstration of expertise. I am Board Certified with both.
So, back to Covid-19. As a retired Medical Professional, I am skilled in Hospital Procedures and take my salon’s cleanliness to this higher level. Besides the Standard Covid Screening Questionnaire and mandatory mask wearing, I have initiated the following standards/practices.
1. Our entire Suite has a New HVAC System that uses better filters & Ultra-Violet Light to purify our air.
2. At the beginning and end of each day, I sanitize all surfaces.
3. All my clients are instructed to wash their hands in the lobby bathroom & use their paper towel to open the door to our suite.
4. After entering my suite, I do a temporal temperature scan. I also have a scanner at home & check myself daily.
a. My husband works in an Integrative Medicine office where he manages the Nutritional Supplements. We both take therapeutic doses of Vitamin D, Zinc, Vitamin A and a group of immune boosting supplements.
5. I am masked during your entire procedure and take a Covid Test Monthly (even with no symptoms).
6. We are requesting you do not have a guest (driver) wait in our lobby, but if it is necessary, I will check their temperature and they can sit in one of two chairs (12 feet apart).
Whether you are a New Client or an existing client, you can be certain I am doing everything right be make sure you have Wonderful Permanent Makeup!

Happy Memorial Day 2020 & I re-open tomorrow!
Thank you to everyone that has contacted me for an appointment & I will be scheduling you this week!
Here is an update on how we are re-opening.
1. Suite 109 is a shared office space & our common areas are being sanitized daily.
2. When you arrive for your appointment, you will text or call me & I will meet you at the door. Currently we are allowing 3 people to wait in our suite's lobby (chairs 6' apart). If we already have a full inner lobby, I will contact you as soon as we have room inside.
3. Our suite has a NEW HVAC System, which incorporates a UV light purification system, so our inside air is clean!
4. Everyone wears a mask! This includes all suite personal in any common area & I will be wearing a mask during your procedure.
5. I will be using a contactless forehead scanner (on order). When it arriives, I will scan you at the door before you come in.
6. IF you have any reason to cancel your appointment due to health reasons (fever, stomach issues, cold, allergies with coughing or sneezing), contact me to reschedule. This INCLUDES calling or texting ON THE MORNING of your appointment. OUR Health is too important to take a chance at becoming sick.
Thank you to everyone that has been wishing me well. I have not even had a sniffle in 2020 & follow the Stay Healthy Regimen of Total Health Nutrition Center (my hubby's business)!
I hope to see you soon!

Due to Covid 19, we are temporarily closed pending the end of business restrictions. At this time with no date known, I’m taking names for future appointments. As soon as I get word that I can reopen, I will contact you. New Clients email me at [email protected]. Current clients email or text me.
For anyone new to Permanent Makeup, there are many inadequately trained technicians in the field that have taken a 2-day course in a hotel. These are usually sponsored by equipment manufacturers or suppliers, which is the easiest way for them to grow their business and has nothing to do with expertise or technique.
I get many inquiries for ‘fixing’ these procedures & often can do nothing ~ even with my 22+ years of extensive annual advanced training. The recognized Permanent Makeup Organizations require over 100 hours of certified training to achieve their lowest level of certification.
Bottom Line ~ it’s your face & you have one chance to have it done right! If you want to see a punch list of how to check out a technician, go to my website & check out Before you schedule https://wakeupwithmakeup.net/before-you-schedule/. Also, there are tips in our FAQ Section https://wakeupwithmakeup.net/faq/.
Thank you & Stay Well!

Question To Ask Dermagraphics Technician Before You Schedule Permanent makeup is for life! Here are some questions to ask before you schedule your permanent makeup procedure.
Hello from Jenice at Dermagraphics By Jenice!
First ~ let’s get a few things updated:
1. I am NOT Closed or Retired. It seems that the current web review systems allow people to post comments that others take for real & in my case were incorrect information.
2. I am very selective with my clientele & I am maintaining a limited schedule. I can usually work you in within a few weeks.
3. The Cosmetic Tattooing Business is overrun with technicians that have taken weekend classes & do not belong to any of the respected certifying organizations.
a. Your best resource to determine if a technician is up to par is on my website ‘Before You Schedule’. Be sure to direct any friend or relative to my website for this information. As always, I am available by phone to answer any questions.
4. Microblading! This is the NEW buzzword & this is nothing new. I took my 1st class in this 20 years ago. Most of the technicians that only offer this procedure have no fundamental Permanent Makeup Training. If this is all a technician does… I’d run for the door! I chose to not offer this procedure as it is inferior for color retention due to the color implanting in the top layer of the skin. I’m also hearing about exorbitant prices for a procedure that could last just a few months. I have had extensive training in every area of Cosmetic Tattooing & if we decide Microblading is THE best for you, I can do it. (But I don’t know why you would want this in lieu of traditional Permanent Makeup.)
So, with that said, Fall is THE Best time to Update your Makeup or get a New Procedure. With the shorter days & shift away from ‘beach time’, you don’t need to be as careful with sun while the makeup heals-in.
If your last procedure was within a year or so, we may be able to do a 1 visit touch up & get you back to looking great. However, if it has been over a year, you may need an extended procedure or a full re-do. I am always fair in assessing your need so you will be delighted with the result.
So, send me back a quick reply & if you need a touch-up or re-do, let me know & we’ll work together to get you on the schedule!
I hope you are doing well & I look forward to hearing from you!

I had an inquiry recently from someone that wanted camouflage.
This is an area where the technician should have extensive advanced training.
In my 20 years + I turn down more than I do... knowing that the results will not be what is expected.
Be careful of inexperienced technicians that are happy to take your money!
