Gua Sha is one of my favorite self care practices! Over the years I’ve had so many clients ask about proper technique, so I figured I’d finally make a post about it!

Here are a few Dos and Don’ts

DO
Start with clean skin
Apply a face oil so the stone can glide over your skin
Use gentle pressure
Hold your skin where you’re gliding from
Shoot for 6 strokes per area
Hold the stone parallel to your skin
Wash your stone after every use with soap and warm water

DON’T
Tug or pull on skin
Apply a heavy hand
Perform over cystic acne or rosacea
Leave your stone out on the counter (most are very breakable)

Absolutely thrilled with this progress!! Over the past year I have been diving deep into learning more about acne - causes, triggers, and treatment, and it feels like I’m finally cracking the code! 🔐

With this client we first started by repairing her compromised skin barrier from all the actives she was using to try to get rid of the acne. During this time we did gentle enzyme treatments and lots of extractions, high frequency and LED therapy.

We then moved on to adjusting her home skincare regimen once her skin barrier was properly functioning. I added Cleansing Gel with Mandelic Acid (I LOVE this cleanser), Daytime Control, and Nighttime Control (encapsulated benzoyl peroxide). AND THEN we started a series of Dermafrost Peels. This is when the magic started happening ✨

It takes time, care, and consistency, but together, we can do it!
