EarthTouch Shiatsu and Massage

Big news, friends -- I am now an NCBTMB Approved Provider for Massage Therapy continuing education! Over the coming months I'll be developing classes in shiatsu, acupressure, tui na, and the theories of "Traditional" Chinese Medicine, with in-person and online options. If you're interested in such classes PM me to get on the mailing list.

(For clarity I am not teaching this class at Potomac Massage Training Institute PMTI, just boosting the signal.)

Taught a "magnificent", in the words of one students, class at PMTI over the weekend. Working on becoming an NCBTMB app4oved CE provider so I can bring this class to more people.

"This class was magnificent." -- student feedback from a recent shiatsu class at Potomac Massage Training Institute PMTI.

Interested in shiatsu and acupressure? I'm in the process of becoming an NCBTMB approved CE provider. Drop me a line and I'll put you on my mailing list when I'm able to offer this "magnificent" class to LMTs!

"Five minutes of observation and questioning and five minutes of treatment that actually hits the root of the problem, can be more useful than an hour of protocol massage."

Your occasional reminder that, despite surgery being accepted mainstream medical practice, in many cases the evidence base for elective surgery is actually pretty thin.

The ancient Greek poet Archilochus wrote, “The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing.

”Kitsune is Japanese for “fox”, but also connotes a shape-shifting trickster spirit that in some cases is seen as a messenger or servant of the gods, or even an incarnation of the divine — and sometimes is a mere prankster.

Thus, I might describe The Bodywork Kitsune as a blog devoted to the idea that bodywork and massage therapists should take a multifaceted (“fox”) approach to the art; specifically recommending one that incorporates East Asian medical traditions and has a healthy bit of trickster, shape-shifting spirit.
