New Year’s Resolutions for a Breastfeeding Mother

I will watch my baby and not the clock to tell me how often to nurse, trusting my mothering instincts and knowing that I am the expert on my baby.

I will drink when thirsty and eat when hungry recognizing that certain amounts of water and a perfect diet are not necessary to breastfeed.

I will say “yes” to friends and family offering to help with meals, laundry or other tasks while doing my best to let go of non-urgent household chores for a while.

I will get help with breastfeeding and pumping my milk for my baby if either are painful and interfering with the normal course of feeding my baby. I deserve an enjoyable breastfeeding relationship with my baby without these and other such negative influences.

I will breastfeed wherever and whenever my baby needs to be fed and enjoy this precious time with my baby.
