Grateful today and everyday for all the Veterans and their families. We’re not nicknamed “land of the free, home of the brave” for nothing.

When I got to play a small part in this homecoming earlier this year, I got to hear about how difficult deployments can be. The ups and downs, loneliness, trials and the patience needed every day. We owe these men and women everything. ✨

Aly was my model for the Advanced Academy session today and she was a total babe. And let me tell you, a bit of a challenge.

2 1/2 rows of Hand Tied Beaded Wefts in a custom blend with 4 color mixes and pop pieces for dimension. I originally thought we’d need to color after installing but once they were in the blend was seamless! This is one of those ones where you really want to high someone after to celebrate.

I actually love my natural hair but I hate that it doesn’t hold a curl all day. I also love having extra volume for braids so naturally extensions are a game changer. Curls last for days, braids and ponytails are full and I always get people asking about my hair which is a bonus.

I’m torn…

Can I never want summer to end but be so freaking happy that the kiddos are headed back to school this week?! Because I am!

I’m all about still soaking up the sun, rocking these beach waves with and wearing every swimmy that I own. This ones from and I’m obsessed.

And since I always get asked how to make these waves… I use a 1 1/2” curling iron with a clamp, curl away from your face leaving the last 2” of your hair out and dragging the warm iron over the ends on the way out, the more beachy I want it to look I’ll take smaller sections and then I shake out with Texturiza Spray and finish with their GO365 hair spray.

If you get too curly, don’t worry! Drag a warm flat iron over the curly spots to straighten them out a bit. You’re good to go girl.

Beach hair but skip the sea salt ✌🏻

I know that salty hair looks great air dried but it can trash your hair, especially if there are extensions involved. I know some people like recommending pre packaged salt sprays for that beachy texture but I’m a die hard dry texture product fan. My favorite? Texturiza by and I use it myself almost every day without any dryness!

- Dry texture sprays are more moisturizing than salt sprays. Bonus, it doesn’t leave your hair stiff or heavy

- Dry texture can bring out your natural curls or play up those curls you put in yourself, generally frizz free.

- Salt sprays can be good on naturally healthy, shiny hair with no extensions. But watch out, too much salt product can definitely become too much of a good thing!

SOAKING IT UP

So even though y’all voted for me to keep my hair on the shorter side, I just couldn’t do it! I knew I was coming to South Carolina and just pictured myself on the beach with long mermaid hair. So here I am, enjoying every minute of that salty air and sand everywhere.

So I went full 22” on the extensions using some of my favorite colors from D8/60, D4/8, R2/18/22 + R4/10/16 🖤

And since I have this awesome new hair I gotta take care of it! Summer can be rough on extensions so here’s some tips to make that fresh hair last as long as possible…

- Get your hair WET before you hop in that water! I love getting it wet, slapping on a deep conditioning masque and either putting it in a low bun or a braid.

- Don’t ever go to bed with hair soaked in salt water or chlorine! Use a clarifying shampoo like Weekender from to strip out all the junk and then follow it up with a good conditioner or masque. Brush out with detangler and you’re good to go.

- Use those hats to your advantage. I LOVE hats as anyone who knows me probably has found out. If you’re using a hair product with UV protectant (I love using Blonda U-Oil from or Good Behavior from ) and covering your scalp and hair with a hat (I love everything from ) you’re much more likely to get that color to last. You’ll look good and your scalp won’t get sun burnt, win-win!

- Watch out for that sunscreen! Lotion or aerosol, try to avoid getting it on those extensions. There can be a chemical reaction where your extensions turn peach or pink and there isn’t much that can fix it! I can attempt to tone or strip it out but there is no way to guarantee your extensions will still be useable. Pay attention or you may be stuck ordering new hair!

BUT did get pulled over right after I gave her this 🔥🔥🔥 hair and managed to not get a ticket. Soooo I think it’s the hair and the fact that she’s cute as can be.
