BACK-TO-SCHOOL PSA FROM YOUR NAIL TECH 💅
If your daughter is going back to school with a fresh set of artificial nail extensions, I'm going to suggest three things:
A lesson in saying “no,” a little education about young nails, and a professional Nail Tech who is willing to tell you BOTH. 😂
An educated Nail Tech should be willing to say, “No. She's too young. Let's polish them instead.”
Remember that old commercial: “We fix $5 haircuts”?
There ought to be a Nail Tech version:
“We fix what happens when nobody tells you NO.”
Artificial nail extensions aren't just pretty decorations. They create length and leverage on the natural nail. Kids are active. They play sports, roughhouse, catch nails on backpacks and lockers, and aren't always thinking about protecting an enhancement.
And when a long artificial nail gets caught or struck, something has to give. Sometimes that's the enhancement. Sometimes it's the natural nail attached underneath it.
That's why a good Nail Tech doesn't say yes to everything simply because someone is willing to pay for it.
Education sometimes means saying NO.
Find a Nail Tech who is willing to explain why she won't perform a service. That's not a Nail Tech who doesn't want your business.
That's a professional who cares more about the nails attached to your child's fingers than the money attached to the appointment.
Polish those little nails. Add some glitter. Paint tiny flowers on them. Make them fabulous.
But let kids be kids—and let their nails grow up with them. 💅

THIS is why we educate. 👣
What happens in our chair matters.
But what happens between appointments can matter even more.
When a client comes to us with a concern, our job as professionals isn't simply to work on what we see that day. It's to listen, assess what is within our scope, recognize the limitations or habits that may be contributing to the problem, and educate the client about what they can do at home.
Then we create a plan — together.
This client came to me after seeing a physician and trying prescribed medications without getting the results he hoped for. I explained what I was seeing from a foot-care perspective, what I could safely address in my chair, and — most importantly — what he needed to do at home consistently.
And HE DID IT.
When he came back, I could hardly believe I was looking at the same feet.
March 2026 → July 2026.
I was proud of him. Not because I performed some miracle treatment, but because he listened, understood the plan, and followed through.
This is why education is such an important part of professional foot care.
We can't go home with our clients. We can't apply their products every day, change their shoes, alter their habits, or make them follow a home-care routine.
But we can help them understand why they're experiencing a problem, teach them how to care for their feet appropriately, explain realistic expectations, and give them a plan they can actually follow.
Sometimes the most valuable tool we use isn't in our drawer.
It's education.
And when a client takes that education home and becomes an active participant in their own foot care?
These are the results that make me proud. 👣❤️
Professional foot care does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment. Clients with conditions outside our scope are referred to an appropriate medical provider.

Turns out the best business strategy is surrounding yourself with good people and then feeding them at the beach.
As if that wasn't enough, today I was surprised with another blessing.
My pastor, Rev. Darlene L. Kelley , published a beautiful article about GF3: Good Food, Good Feet, Good Friday and the story behind a mission that began with one simple thought:
"That man's feet must hurt."
Reading her words reminded me how many people have been part of this journey over the last thirteen years.
One line especially touched my heart:
"Every single person standing here is the reason this day exists."
That's true of GF3.
That's true of Mrs. Goodfoot.
That's true of this team.
None of this happens alone.
Thank you to my team for caring so deeply about the people we serve.
Thank you to our clients for trusting us.
Thank you to our volunteers who continue to show up year after year.
Thank you to Brookland United Methodist Church for opening its doors to our mission.
And thank you to everyone who has walked alongside me on this journey.
My cup is full.

Let's talk about the BUSINESS of beauty.
One thing the past year has taught me as a salon owner is how much we don’t know until we’re forced to learn it the hard way.
After navigating a fire, rebuilding, insurance claims, business interruption, contractors, permits, accounting questions, and all the moving parts that come with owning a business… I’ve realized how valuable it would be for salon professionals to have conversations beyond products and techniques.
I’ve been considering starting a casual quarterly or bi-monthly meetup for salon owners and industry professionals who want to discuss the business side of what we do:
• insurance & liability
• bookkeeping/accounting
• financial planning
• leases & contracts
• HR and staffing
• disaster preparedness
• policies, compliance, and protecting your business
• elevating professional standards in our industry
This would NOT be a sales pitch, paid coaching group, or product class. Just real conversations, shared experiences, resources, and professionals helping each other become stronger business owners.
And most importantly — this would be FREE.
We spend thousands mastering our craft. We should be just as educated about protecting the businesses we’ve worked so hard to build.
Would anyone be interested in something like this?
