Twenty five years ago on this day, I was a freshman in college. Nicole Eagle was a freshman in high school. She says her Spanish teacher withheld info from them and wouldn’t allow the TV to be in the classroom. I think she was protecting her students. I know I felt too immature at the stage of life I was at to fully comprehend what this really meant. And as a mom I could see where she would want to protect them.

I was 18 and I had just moved out of my house less than a month prior. I was at college because my dad insisted. If you know me, you know I think being early is on time. I sat in my lecture hall for my 8am class with two fellow classmates who were also early. We sat there until right at 8am when we realized no one else was coming. The halls were straight up chaos. I worked my tiny ass through the crowd to the TV just in time to see the second plane hit and the news saying it’s a terrorist attack. One of my classmates that was at class early with me that day was a reservist. Once I delivered the news to her the back of the crowd, that was the last time I saw her. Our professor told us she was called to duty. I decided later that month, after having some health issues, to leave college because I wanted to be happy and become a hairstylist. So you could say a small amount of that day put me in the path I’ve been on. I’ve met so many wonderful people during my career and I do not regret the shift in my career path.

On another note… my mom was a firefighter when I was younger so the thought of my mom never coming home every time she went on a call was real. I couldn’t imagine the feelings of everyone in NYC. The people who were there that day and the people waiting for their loved ones to come home. Did you know that on the back of fire trucks say, “Stay back 343 feet”? It’s not a random number. It’s how many fire fighters were lost during 9/11.

Anyways, 25 years later, I have not forgotten. Where were you on 9/11?

The after: a solid finish to her ends that we’re asking for some 💜 by bringing her length up about 1 1/4”. We made a compromise that she’ll get haircuts more frequently to maintain her length instead of needing more dramatic cuts. Only her roots were colored, the ends are richer because the ends were cut.



The before: her ends needed love. And in people with red or red violet colored hair it can make the color fade swiftly. It can appear orange due to the undertone of the natural hair that was colored.

Still slingin’ hair. Nicole Eagle is still creating s**gs. We call them s**gs because we’re not under 30. 😆 What do YOU call them?
