Curious about cupping therapy and wondering what all the different styles actually do? 🌀 Whether you're looking to release deep tension, improve circulation, or speed up muscle recovery, different cupping techniques offer unique benefits. Here’s a quick breakdown of the most common types:
🔹 Static / Dry Cupping
The classic approach! Cups are placed on specific tension areas and left in place for a few minutes. This creates localized suction that draws fresh blood flow to the area, helping to release stubborn fascia and ease muscle stiffness.
🔹 Moving / Gliding Cupping
A dynamic favorite! Massage oil or lotion is applied to the skin, and the cups are gently slid across larger muscle groups (like the back, shoulders, or legs). It feels a bit like a deep tissue massage in reverse—incredible for breaking up fascia and easing broad areas of tightness.
🔹 Fire Cupping
A traditional technique where a flame is briefly introduced inside a glass cup to create a vacuum before it's placed on the skin. The cooling air inside creates a deep, warm suction that many clients find exceptionally grounding and deeply relaxing.
Whether you're dealing with stubborn post-workout soreness, chronic tension, or everyday stress, cupping can be a fantastic addition to your bodywork routine.
Curious which technique fits your goals? Drop a comment below or send a message to chat about adding cupping to your next session! 🌿✨

Let’s talk about one of the most common questions I get: "What are those marks?"
If you've received cupping therapy or seen pictures of it, you've likely noticed the resulting safe and normal circular discolored patches on the skin, often called 'cupping marks'. They can range in color from a light pink to a deeper purple.
The important thing to know is that these are not bruises.
Bruises are caused by blunt force impact that damages blood vessels. Cupping marks, on the other hand, are the result of gentle, therapeutic suction that:
1. Lifts and separates the fascia and muscle tissue layers.
2. Draws stagnant fluid, pathogens, and toxins out of deeper tissues to the surface.
3. Promotes healthy blood flow and initiates the body’s self-healing process.
The depth of color indicates the level of stagnation and tension that was released in that specific area. Darker marks generally mean more significant tissue restriction or less optimal circulation was addressed. They typically fade within a few days to a week.
Cupping marks are essentially visual proof of the effective, deep work your body did during the session!

We just leveled up our toolkit at Body Mechanix with a brand-new cupping set, and I am so excited to incorporate these into your upcoming sessions!
Whether you're dealing with restricted fascia, chronic muscle tightness, or just need a deeper level of myofascial release, cupping is an incredible way to boost circulation, relieve deep-seated tension, and speed up recovery. The gentle suction helps lift and separate tissue layers, creating space where bound-up fascia can finally let go.
Curious how it feels? Send a message or book your next session online, and let's weave cupping right into your custom bodywork plan. Let’s get you moving better! 🌿💆♀️

Psoas I was saying... back pain isn't always coming from where you think it is! 🧠💥
You may wonder why I work your hips and up into the diaphragm if one of your main complaints is lower back pain. Here is why!
The culprit is often hidden on the front side of your body: the psoas and iliacus muscles (collectively known as the iliopsoas).
• The Spine Connection: The psoas attaches directly to your lumbar vertebrae (lower spine) and extends down through your pelvis to your thigh bone, while upper fibers blend right into the respiratory diaphragm.
• The Sitting Strain: Spending hours sitting keeps these deep core flexors in a shortened, tight position, pulling directly on your lower back.
• The Breathing Link: Because the psoas attaches near the diaphragm, tension in your hip flexors can affect breathing mechanics, and restricted breathing can keep your lower back in a perpetual state of stress.
Working through the hips and diaphragm helps release that front-to-back tension at the root source instead of just chasing the symptoms in your back.
