What I see: precision, placement, tension đ
What your extensions see: đïžđïž
I completely understand that extensions are a big investment. Itâs not a small decision, and of course youâre going to look at pricing.
But what Iâve seen over the years is that âcheapâ extensions usually end up costing more in ways people donât expect.
Lower quality hair that needs to be replaced sooner.
Installs that feel tight, uncomfortable, or cause breakage and scalp irritation over time.
ïżœConstant maintenance, fixes, or starting over because it wasnât done properly the first time.
And the biggest cost of it all which is repairing the damage to your natural hair after.
Good extensions arenât just about how they look the day you leave the salon. Theyâre about how they wear, how they feel on your scalp, and how well your natural hair is protected long-term.
When itâs done right, youâre not constantly dealing with issues, youâre just living in your hair.
Sometimes the higher investment upfront is what actually saves your hair (and your money) in the long run. đ€
Clean stitching isnât just about aesthetics. Itâs the foundation of a secure, comfortable, and long-lasting install.
Tension, spacing, and consistency matter. If your base isnât right, your rows wonât lay right.
Master your stitch, and youâll master the entire extension experience.
Protecting your extensions at all costs. đ«¶
We might be joking about pain⊠but your extensions shouldnât be causing it.â
If youâre experiencing pulling, soreness, or discomfort, thatâs usually a sign something isnât right with the install. Extensions should feel secure, but comfortable enough that youâre not constantly aware of them.
IBE is designed to be comfortable, lightweight, and gentle on the scalp.
Something I think the industry struggles with is talking about salon culture and expectations without it turning into drama or hurt feelings.
We should be able to have real conversations about whatâs working, whatâs not, and what actually needs to change without it immediately turning into gossip or people taking it personally.
Not every conversation is a call-out. Sometimes itâs just people trying to understand their environment better, figure out whatâs healthy, and grow from it.
The reality is, this industry only gets better when weâre honest about it. When weâre willing to talk about expectations, leadership, boundaries, and culture in a way thatâs productive instead of reactive.
Thereâs a difference between stirring drama and having necessary conversations. And if we want better salons, better teams, and better experiences across the board⊠we have to get more comfortable having them. đ€
I love the initiative though đ
I feel like the industry has gotten really obsessed with fast growth lately. Getting fully booked as quickly as possible, raising prices fast, hitting milestones right away⊠and while none of those things are bad, itâs important to remember that fast growth doesnât always mean sustainable growth.
When everything is rushed, itâs easy to skip over the part where you actually build confidence in what youâre doing. The repetition, the mistakes, the figuring things out - thatâs where your skill really develops. Thatâs what gives you staying power.
Slow growth doesnât mean youâre behind. It usually means youâre building something thatâs going to last.
Thereâs nothing wrong with taking your time, getting really good at what you do, and growing at a pace that doesnât burn you out in the process. đ«¶
I promise you canât touch them all you want⊠after I sew them in. đ
What do I bring to the table? Precision installs, healthy hair and a method that puts your scalp health and comfort first. đ«¶
One of the things people love to say about this industry is that you get to âmake your own schedule.â And technically⊠thatâs true.
But what a lot of new stylists donât realize is that building the schedule you want usually takes time.
When youâre just starting out, the reality is that evenings and weekends are often when your potential clients are actually available. If you avoid those hours completely, it can make it a lot harder to grow your book and build a steady clientele.
Iâve been there. Working nights, weekends, taking last-minute appointments, and saying yes to a lot of time slots that werenât always convenient. Thatâs how I built my name and my client list. Now, 20+ years into my career, Iâm able to work three days a week and be done by 5. But that schedule didnât happen overnight. It came after years of putting in the work to build a loyal book of clients.
So if youâre newer to the industry and the idea of choosing your own hours sounds amazing, just make sure youâre also thinking about when your clients are available to see you.
Sometimes the schedule you want long-term requires working a schedule you donât love for a little while first.
