Toner vs. NO Toner. What is a toner? breaks it down! 👇

"What exactly is a toner? Or a gloss, or a glaze, or an overlay? First of all, they are all the same thing.

Don’t be confused by the word “toner“. A toner is a service, not a specific product. It’s a word used to describe what we’re doing, not what we’re actually using. It’s common to use demi-permanent color, but could also be permanent or even semi-permanent. It can be used to neutralize, enhance or brighten your hair.

Unfortunately, nobody’s hair lifts ashy, beige, or silver. I can guarantee you that it will lift orange or yellow. If those are not your favorite colors, then a toner may be necessary. The word toner has a bad reputation to a lot of clients. It’s been rumored when you tone a client, it’s because you did something wrong. That’s just not the case. As a matter of fact, clients with virgin hair lift so beautifully.

Sometimes, you may not need one. But, if you are looking for customized colors such as champagne, platinum, rose gold, etc., then you’ll definitely need to use one.

Important things to remember when toning:
*️⃣If you want ashy tones, lift past where you need to be and tone down (example: lift to 8, tone with 7).
*️⃣To brighten dull ends, use a level lighter and add gold. For fashion tones like rich violets and bright reds, try using a direct dye overlay.

Everything we do is temporary. EVERYTHING. If it wasn’t ,we’d never make any money. So, you can expect your toners to be temporary as well. The healthier the hair, the longer it will last. The more damaged or porous, the more temporary it will be and may require more frequent maintenance."

“I bleached the whole head starting from where her gray roots starts in foils by taking very thin sections using flashlight lightener with 20 vol for 3 hours, after hour and half I reopened each foil and reapplied a new lightener mixture on the warm areas until I reached the lightest pale blonde, rinsed hair, then toned with shade eq 3/4 10T+ 1/4 10VV mixed with equal amount processing solution for 30 minutes. shampooed, style with round brushes.”
