✨ Fine Hair, Big Volume! (How I styled her transformation)

If you’ve got fine, straight, long hair m, you already know the struggle, volume can be tricky, and styles don’t always hold the way you want.

My client was ready for a change: she was tired of the way her hair sat flat, so we did two things to help her get a more lifted, fuller look.

💡 Step 1: A Perm for Lift + Texture
Because her hair is fine and straight, adding a soft perm helps create natural movement and body. This is what allows hair to hold shape differently, so instead of laying flat, it has something to “grab onto” and bounce.

💇‍♀️ Step 2: A Cut Designed for Her New Curl Pattern
Now here’s the part that makes the biggest difference: once the hair is curly, the way it falls changes.

So instead of just cutting for length, I shaped it so the curls could fall into place naturally and build a more full, sassy short silhouette.

This kind of cut is all about working with the curl so it looks intentional, not random.

✅ The Result
A fuller look, more texture, and curls that give her hair that effortless “volume-first” vibe without needing heavy styling or complicated steps.

If you’re considering a perm (or already have curls from one), save this!
Your haircut should be customized to your curl pattern for the best results. 💛

Sometimes I cut my clients’ natural curly hair after it’s been blow-dried straight—and that helps me create a more accurate, even guideline.

Curly hair can shrink and lay differently from section to section, so length and shape are harder to judge consistently in its natural pattern. When it’s blow-dried straight, it lies flatter, making the cut more precise.

This client wears her hair straight, so it aligns with her styling routine.

And just to be clear: I don’t do this for every client—I decide based on what she needs after consultation.

Just a lil cut will do……..

Yesterday was amazing!

I had the pleasure of teaching an All Nutrient Color Correction Class !! And guess what was the best part? …..

The stylist got to experience it hands-on!! 🙌🎨

I truly love sharing what I know, helping my peers grow, learn something new, or refresh what they already know. And even when I’m teaching, I always make sure I’m learning too.

Every class, every stylist, every conversation is a chance to reflect, improve, and keep sharpening my skills.

Because I will forever be a student of this trade!💛

I’ve been in the beauty industry for 33 years, and honestly?

There’s still so much to learn and even more to share!

💬 Now I want to know:
As a beauty professional, what have you shared or learned lately?

Drop it in the comments — let’s inspire each other! 👇✨

Kindness cost nothing.

Who are you when no one is looking?

Her hair is thick, wavy and curly with heavy density — so control is everything.

I start the cut dry to see how her natural waves and curls fall, then section carefully to manage volume and work through each area with intention. Controlling weight in every section lets me remove bulk where needed, preserve length where it flatters, and shape a balanced silhouette that sits perfectly when she leaves.

Result: lighter, more wearable curls with consistent movement and no surprise volume.

There is real power in the words you choose about yourself.

When you speak positively — I can learn this, I’m capable, I deserve kindness — you strengthen confidence, shape your mindset, and invite better choices. Negative self-talk — I’m not good enough, I always fail — narrows possibilities and reinforces doubt.

Try catching one unhelpful phrase today and reframe it into something constructive. Small shifts in language build new habits of thinking: they change how you feel, how you act, and how others hear you. Speak to yourself with the same care and encouragement you’d offer a friend — your words matter, and they can lift you forward.

Which season of life are you in right now?

Maybe you’re in a season of quiet—days that feel slow, reflective, and still. Or maybe life is pounding with busyness; your calendar is full and your energy is stretched thin.
Perhaps you’re navigating a season of uncertainty, standing at a crossroads with more questions than answers.
Or you might be moving through a season of sadness, where each morning feels heavier than the last.

Wherever you are, this much is true: every season carries purpose, and there’s a plan for you to make it through.

Instead of resisting where you are, try embracing it. Give yourself permission to be present in this moment—because growth happens while you’re going through, not just after you arrive.

Here are gentle ways to get the most from your current season:

- If you’re in a season of quiet: lean into the stillness. Rest, reflect, and listen. Use the downtime to recharge and discover what truly matters beneath the noise.

- If you’re in a season of busyness: set small boundaries and celebrate tiny wins. Prioritize what only you can do and ask for help where you need it—momentary pause fuels long-term stamina.

- If you’re in a season of uncertainty: practice curiosity instead of fear. Take one small step forward, gather information, and let each little experiment guide you toward clarity.

- If you’re in a season of sadness: be gentle with yourself. Allow the feelings, reach out for support, and lean into practices that soothe routine, nature, people who care.

Remember: seasons aren’t permanent. They’re part of a larger story that’s unfolding. You’re being shaped, softened, strengthened, clarified by whatever you’re living now. There’s meaning in the struggle and lessons embedded in the waiting.

So breathe.
Be where you are.
Trust that purpose is present even in the hardest parts.
Keep moving in small, loving ways and know that growth is happening as you go.
