The Art of Doing Life Better by SaraD

To support the mission of P.E.O. International, the SC-Chapter E gathers in the summer to make HUNDREDS of jars of pear chutney. The raised funds support our scholarships and funds to deserving women.

It takes 20 cups of chopped pears per batch to cook. We are so fortunate to the tree owners who allow us to: first pick, then wash, peel, core and chop.

We chop many ingredients and the fellowship is fulfilling knowing we are funding dreams of education for women on many levels.
Each jar is fully labeled and gaily dressed - a great gift made with love by women who celebrate, educate and motivate women.

Four burners rotate stock pots that fill dozens of jars in each batch, then sealed and canned safely. Yes, all four burners are “cooking with gas 🔥” 😁

These cases are only a portion of this season’s bounty. Just under 300 jars in one weekend. And there are more to make!

Our Chapter members live throughout the metro area and even out to St. George.
