Sulfates are one of the big three ingredients people look to avoid in body and hair care—right alongside phthalates and parabens.

What are they?
Originally introduced in the 1930s, sulfates are cleansing agents made from salts and fatty acids. They're what give your shampoo that satisfying lather.

Be Mindful
Used too often, sulfates can strip natural oils, leaving hair dry and brittle, and skin feeling tight or irritated.

Good news: If you love lather, there are gentler alternatives like isethionates, betaines, and sugar-based glucosides that cleanse without the harsh effects.

Clarifying shampoos—are they sulfate-free?
Most aren't, but the following are and they are amazing!

- Innersense Clarity Hairbath

-Malibu C Un-Do-Goo

Final thoughts...Your scalp, hair, and body can feel clean without feeling stripped. Do your own ingredient research. ✨

K18 vs. Olaplex 🥊

You’ve likely heard of K18 and Olaplex, the two big names in bond repair. But how are they similar, and how do you choose the right one for your hair? 🤔 Here’s the breakdown ⬇️

💪 Similarities

- Both repair hair from the inside out, targeting damage caused by heat styling, chemical treatments, and over-processing.
- They work to strengthen hair, reduce breakage, and restore overall health.✨

⚡Differences:
- K18 repairs not just disulfide bonds but rebuilds the keratin structure, which means it can fix ALL kinds of damage on a deeper level. It’s fast-acting—get results in just 4 minutes! ⏳

- Olaplex focuses on repairing disulfide bonds, which are essential for hair strength and structure. It’s perfect for ongoing care, especially if you color or bleach your hair regularly. 🎨

👑 Which One is Right for You?

- Choose K18 if you have severe damage from various sources like heat and color and want quick results.

- Choose Olaplex if your hair is chemically treated or color-treated and you need consistent repair over time to maintain strong, healthy strands. 💇‍♀️

🔗 Whether you’re repairing your curls or bringing your blonde back to life, both of these bond builders are hair game-changers! 💫 There’s really no wrong choice here!

I used to use paper towels 🤦🏾‍♀️

I recently purchased the Bang Salon Face Shield by Eco Heads, and it has been a game-changer. I no longer worry about cutting too much AND my guests don’t have hair all over their faces. The shield is light weight and doesn’t fog up or distort my vision, which is crucial especially when cutting bangs. Plus, the eco-friendly materials make it a win for my sustainability-conscious business! 10:10! 🌍 ✨

TIPS FOR INSPO PHOTOS 📷

Pinterest is a great way to organize your photos. I suggest saving photos of inspiration that you love and photos that you dislike. (I’m equally interested in what you don’t like.)Below are a few more suggestions that would support your consultation:

1. Texture and pattern

Look for photos of haircuts/hairstyles that closely resemble your own curl pattern, and/or texture. This is the most important part of selecting inspo photos. Doing so helps to establish realistic goals.

2. Color and Tone

Finding inspo photos with your face shape, curl pattern etc. seem like a lot but they’re out there! When it comes to selecting hair color, consider your skin tone. This search feature is on Pinterest as well. The goal is to imagine how the new cut or color will look on you!

3. Commitment

Color: When looking for color inspiration be willing to commit to the homework. Hair color requires ongoing care after the initial appointment. Salon quality shampoo and conditioner along with home treatments like k18 and Olaplex will help maintain the health of your hair.
Haircut: how often are you willing to maintain your haircut? How much time are you willing to devote to styling? Are you willing to invest in products that are healthy for your hair?

These are just a few questions to consider when choosing inspiration photos and preparing for your consultation. Haircuts and color services require a certain level of commitment. It’s a relationship. 🤝
