We’re looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year 🎉
11/09/2022
Hello everyone!
Just wanted to let you all know we have a new phone but same number 517-543-4300, You can call or text us. Hopefully this clears up any issues we had with our previous phone. Please leave your full name, the stylist your wanting an appt with and what you are looking to have done. We look forward to hearing from you.
Dear clients
Due to recent events we have to make changes to our scheduling protocols.
We cannot honor any appointments if a client has a pending test result for Covid-19. If you are tested on a weekly basis for your employer you must schedule your appointment within the time frame after you receive your negative Covid-19 test results and before you would be tested for the following week.
If any client arrives for an appointment and is awaiting a test result for Covid-19 their appointment will be canceled and they will be asked to reschedule.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
Clients
As we are sure many of you have now heard, salons can reopen as of June 15th. As exciting as this is, personally we are all very overwhelmed. We have been doing a lot of prepping and preparing for reopening but there is still a lot that needs to be done including rescheduling 3 months worth of appointments.
We will each reach out to our clients to get you rescheduled. Please be patient as this will be a very time consuming process.
Also please be aware all CLIENTS AND STYLISTS are REQUIRED to wear a mask at all times. If this requirement is not something you are comfortable with please let your stylist know when they contact you to reschedule your appointment as we will need to wait until after this requirement is lifted to schedule your appointment.
We look forward to seeing you all again but in the meantime please be patient with us while we work out all of the details.
Dear clients,
As we enter the 9th week of being closed due to the Stay Home Stay Safe order, we wanted to reach out and let you know how much you are all missed and that we look forward to reopening. Equally as important, we are starting to see some regions and businesses reopening, and we wanted to touch base with our clients to let you know that we will reopen when deemed allowable by the state in order to ensure the safest experience possible for all.
Salons are currently set to open in phase 5, which has yet to receive a specific timeline. Our best guess is that it will not be May 29th, and we want everyone to be prepared for that.
We have yet to receive any guidance from the State of Michigan Licensing and Regulations as to what our new regulations will be. We can, however, give everyone an idea about what to prepare for when we are opened based on the guidelines most states have adopted:
• Stylists will be limited to one client at a time
• Clients will have to wait in your vehicle and call us when you arrive for your appointment. We will come get you when we are ready for you
• Clients should bring only essentials i.e. key’s, phone, debit card
• You will be asked to wash your hands immediately upon entering the salon and you will have your temperature taken and asked a series of questions regarding exposure and any symptoms you may be experiencing
• IF YOU ARE SICK OR HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS AT ALL YOU WILL BE SENT HOME. Please reschedule your appointment if you are not feeling well.
• Most, if not all states are requiring stylists to wear masks, and many are requiring clients to wear them as well. Please know that if it is a state requirement, you must wear a mask during your appointment, if there is a refusal, we will unfortunately have to cancel your appointment.
• We also want to prepare you that some states are prohibiting the use of blow dryers, that would mean you would leave your appointment with towel dried hair and it would also leave us unable to do any double process colors.
We will communicate updates to you as information is made available to us. Once we are given a set-in stone reopening date, we will be contacting our clients to start rescheduling everyone. Please have patience with us during that process as it will be very difficult working under the new one client per stylist requirement, which greatly limits the number of clients we will be able to accommodate daily. We will do everything we can to get everyone in as quickly as possible.
We have been working hard the last several weeks preparing for reopening and stocking up on cleaning supplies. We are having some level of difficulty getting our hands on cleaning supplies, so if anyone finds some please pass along that info to us, it would be greatly appreciated!
Dear clients,
As the closure of non-essential businesses continues, we know how eager everyone is to be able to return to our normal daily routines, including being able to go to the hair salon for a cut, color, and other services.
Some of you may have seen or even possibly shared and signed a petition circulating to reopen hair and nail salons. We wanted to take a second to address this.
Georgia announced this week they would be reopening many businesses in which hair and nail salons are included. Their Licensing and Regulation board released documents of the requirements salons would have to meet in order to reopen. We wanted to give you a snapshot of what those requirements look like:
-stylists' temperature will be taken prior to the start of the workday. Any person with a temperature above 99 will be sent home immediately and cannot return until normal temperature returns and all symptoms of covid-19 have subsided.
-the salon will operate by appointment only, one client per stylist. Clients must remain outside in their vehicle until stylist is ready to start their appointment.
-clients' temperature will be taken prior to the start of the appointment, and they will be asked a series of questions in regards to any symptoms they may be experiencing or exposure they may have had.
-stylists are required to wear gloves at all times, changed frequently, and in between each client or after touching surfaces that could cause cross-contamination. When possible double-layered gloves should be worn so as to allow the top layer to be changed and still keeping stylist's hands gloved at all times. The first layer of gloves should be worn up to and under the sleeves of a protective gown.
-stylists are required to wear face masks and if available masks should be offered to clients.
-stylists should wear a full face shield where available in addition to the face mask, at a minimum the use of a face mask and protective eyewear.
-disposable gowns or smocks need to be worn by stylists and changed in between each client.
-when shampooing clients, it is recommended a clean towel be placed over client's face to best minimize all direct face to face contact.
-shampoo bowls should be wrapped in plastic and removed and replaced in between each client.
-stylists should change into clean clothing prior to returning to their homes after work.
These are just a few of the required and recommended requirements for the operation of salons as they reopen in Georgia. Along with those listed are the requirements for disinfecting and sanitizing all surfaces, tools, and areas of the salon in between each client, which largely was similar to disinfecting and sanitation requirements already required in salons.
So, that’s a lot to take in right? That’s how we felt too. Then we started going through the list in order to see what we could do to prepare if Michigan chose to reopen salons sooner than later. One of our first concerns would be the cost of operation. The amount to operate would significantly increase due to the amounts of PPE gear we would need to purchase and use each day. Plus, the cost of purchasing all of the sanitizing and disinfecting products we would need, alcohol wipes, hand sanitizer, barbicide, Lysol/Clorox wipes, etc. Secondly, the concern for how we would even be able to obtain all of the sanitizing and disinfecting products as well as all of the PPE gear required.
With all of these additional requirements, the number of clients we would be able to see in a day would be a fraction of the number of clients we serviced prior to the closure of our salons. So we would have a reduced income due to these limitations. So needless to say, the increased cost of operation, along with the decrease in our income, is definitely a significant cause for concern for us.
As much as we would love to get back into the salon as much as most of you, returning to the salon now when these types of requirements are necessary for the safety of our clients, ourselves and our families could be more damaging to our business. This would not be a business as usual, casual relaxing trip to the salon.
Please be patient and allow us to return to work when we are in a position to return to a safe work environment that can allow us to welcome you all back and get as many of you in, and your hair needs taken care of as quickly as we can.
As always, we are very appreciative of all of your support, understanding, and patience!

As of today April 9th 2020, Governor Whitmer has extended the Executive Order requiring non-essential businesses to remain closed.
In accordance with that Missy’s Shop of Style will remain closed through April 30th.
We know that this is a stressful time for everyone and something none of us could have anticipated and nothing any of us have experienced before. Please know we are available for questions and we will return phone calls as quickly as possible. All three of us are going into the salon periodically throughout the week to check the answering machine. We will return those calls as soon as we can.
If you feel you need to box color your hair. If you are cutting anxiety bangs. If you are so concerned about money you color your hair back to brunette because you don’t know when your next paycheck will be coming in. We support you. We will work it out. We will not shame you. Your life, your health, your family and your finances will always mean more than your hair!
We would like to take a minute and thank all of our amazing clients. You all have been supportive in so many ways, from the kind notes, letters, and messages to the most important, your understanding during this time. Although everyone is feeling the financial weight of this pandemic, we thank you for understanding that our health as well as your own is very important. We understand that when we look our best, we feel our best but let’s use this time to let our inner beauty and health shine. As much as we would love to see all of you and we truly miss all of you, we take your safety and health very seriously. So we ask you to embrace the natural look and enjoy the low maintenance, social distancing look.

On Saturday March 21, 2020 Governor Whitmer signed an executive order which included shutting down hair salons until April 13th at 11:59pm.
In accordance with that order Missy’s Shop of Style will be closed.
While it is with a heavy heart that we receive this news and share it with our clients, we also know that it is the right call. Had we not been mandated, the 3 of us collectively had decided we could not, in good conscious continue to open our doors to our clientele and put all of you along with ourselves and our families at risk.
We will be available to our clients as usual via phone, Facebook if you have any questions. You can leave a message on the shop line and we will do what we can to check messages and return calls.
For those of you that have appointments currently scheduled during the timeframe we are closed, we will begin reaching out to you to get you rescheduled.
Hello to our lovely clients! I guess it’s time for “that post.” With all of the potential illnesses going around, the old and the new, the scary for some and the just annoying... we appreciate you staying home when you are sick.
Cough, sniffles, fever, whatever it is. There are three of us sharing this space so you never know if someone else’s client may be immune compromised or have a loved one who is. As important as hair is, it just isn’t more important than the health of the community.
We all need to be a little more careful for the next little while.
We are being sure to continue to follow all sanitation guidelines already required of us by the State of Michigan between clients, washing hands between clients, and are taking extra cleaning measures. We have always used fresh towels and combs and worn gloves when necessary.
Thank you for listening, and thank you for your continued patronage. Take some vitamin C, wash your hands, and have a wonderful day! ❤️
