Secondly, I’ve been installing crochet styles for over 10 years. I know this technique, and I know hair. The hair in question looks and feels amazing…no debate there. As I mentioned in the video, in my professional experience, the kinky straight texture tends to be more reusable than the kinky curly.

Like many of you, I’ve seen all the promotions and ads surrounding this hair. And maybe some of the installs being advertised are done without washing the hair first. I personally don’t recommend that. Too many of us deal with scalp sensitivities and underlying scalp issues to install hair without knowing what chemicals or coatings may have been used during manufacturing.

In my opinion, part of the higher price point comes from the fact that it’s new and heavily marketed as “reusable.” If you don’t mind spending the money, that’s completely your choice. But I wouldn’t necessarily call it an investment; especially if longevity varies by texture and maintenance.

I’m gonna be honest…I love the hair. I love it naturally messy, not how it’s packaged. The shampooing was cool, only lost a stain. But my scalp and face is on fire. I haven’t heard about feathered crochet having this reaction, but I’ve definitely come across this with regular crochet. Which is why a stress cleaning it before you have it installed. No install should cause discomfort, something is wrong if it does.
