The first time I cut hair, we had a very thorough and LENGTHY 😉 phone consult about curtain bangs prior to her appointment. This time, mid haircut she casually mentioned she sometimes considers getting a straight-across fringe, and I said “Those would be cute too, ya wanna do that instead?” she just said “Do it!”So we did! I love to tease her, but haircut anxiety is REAL. I highly recommend finding a stylist who “gets you”, no matter which “you” shows up for that appointment. There’s someone out there for everyone, and it makes it all so much more enjoyable for everyone!

This is what about 2 hours and a teeny tiny 3/8” curling iron can give you. In hindsight, I would have started sooner, found my hairspray first, teased and brushed it, taken smaller sections, and perhaps added a second pair of hands to help, because I wanted it to be MUCH BIGGER! In the end, my hair lasted much longer than my thrift store shoes, which essentially exploded before I even got inside. 😂 (see photo 3)

I’ll start by saying I did a TERRIBLE job with the before picture. Not that her hair looked terrible, but I didn’t do a good job of showing what a stark contrast that regrowth looks like on solid color, or how her pretty blonde had gotten yellowish (as it does every visit.) Anyway, on to the 🫖. When we started her hair journey a few years ago, I’m gonna be honest, her hair was in rough shape, lots of damage and lots of bands of different shades of not-quite-right blonde. We got her whipped into shape with regularly scheduled on-scalp blonding, a glaze and K18. A cool blonde when she left, I couldn’t help but wonder how long it took for that “black crack” of regrowth to start driving her nuts. Yesterday my assistant came running in and said “don’t mix the bleach, she wants brown!” And I just 😆 😂 😆. OK, it is true that didn’t take her seriously the first time she mentioned going darker, but this time she had PICTURES. And while she still asked how easy it is to get back to blonde if we made her a brunette, (It’s not, full 🛑.) She reminded me that I told her last time that if she still wanted to go darker, I would take her there. So we did a full head of lowlights, a base bump, and an all over glaze. Would I call it “brunette”? Absolutely not, but this is a great way to “try on” darker hair color by just adding loads of dimension and seeing how the client feels about it. What do you think she’ll do next visit?
