Sarah Medina - Face Painter/SFX Makeup Artist

Two of the sweetest souls I got to meet over this past weekend at one of my events.

I had such a great conversation with this mom!

And here's a little testimony of myself as a face painter, but a person in general.

Gabby got her face painter first. She originally picked a different design. But just as I was about to bring my brush to her cheek, she asked if she could do this design instead.

Of course, it's your face! Your choice.
We finish. Mom comes over and was so overjoyed and shocked she chose that over all the other amazing designs.
But I reminded her, our babies have very special ways of showing us how much they love us.
That was it right there.

Mom came back a little later to get her own design. She asked for the flowers design I had on my board. (It looks nothing like this lol)
So soon as she said flowers, I immediately remembered that her daughter had a shirt on with sunflowers.

I already had my brush in the yellow paint, loading up, and she goes "yes, flowers. Maybe something like sunflowers idk." And I chucked and pointed to her daughter and said "I already had that in mind so that you can match her shirt."

Mom was immediately shook and so excited.
I'm like "I pay attention to details. I look at what people are wearing to match the color scheme. I look for personality vibes. I look at who they are with and try to make their designs coincide with one another if I can. I just love art and love people, and can bring that out."

We get on with it, I'm painting her design, we had the best conversation. Just two moms swapping stories, filling each other with positive vibes and support.

She kept talking about her daughter and finally said her name. So boom, i added it into her design without her knowing.

I finish up and show her in the mirror with the biggest smile on my face lol.

Her jaw drops. She's like "omg the flowers. They're beautiful. Omg the glitter. OMG GABBY!"

and she sees her name. She was like "you. Her name? You" and I'm just laughing.
I said, "I totally pay attention when people are talking to me. I make notes. I actively listen. You mentioned her name once and I immediately said I'm going to add it on."

She gave me the biggest hug.

That is what makes face painting so fulfilling.
The connections I get to make with people.

We have totally lost the art of conversation. Of community. Of people.

We need to talk more. Share more. Support more. Love more.

Because at the end of the day, we are all just trying to do the same thing.

Love a fun, loving, successful life, while raising our babies. And we are ALL the village.

Side note. I'm face painting for this family on Saturday as well!

Connection, networking, Support.

As a reminder, with face painting comes some rules and regulations.

I will be sure to keep this signage posted at all times to avoid any confusion or frustration on anyone's part.

But, being someone who is insured. I have to remain compliant on all of their policies regulations. That means, unfortunately, certain ages cannot be painted, open wounds, cuts or scrapes cannot be painted, etc.

All of which you would think would be something I would not have an issue with. But hey, as a mom myself, I understand.

But again, this is my business, and I take it quite seriously. Safety is a number one priority in my book. Im a very big rule follower.

So to keep your kiddos safe, I will always follow any and all safety regulations.

Also, my supplies (tent, sign, table, chair, paints etc) are quite expensive. I have spent thousands in supplies over the years, and continue to invest. Please treat my things respectfully.
Do not let the kiddos push on things, pull things off, knock things over, touch things, etc.
Not only can, and have my personal things been broken, someone can get injured.

Safety. Safety. Safety. Is the most important.

One thing about me is I almost never stick to exact designs... in a good way, lol.

I'm always adding extras.

Yes I'm charging at vendor events.

But, I'm one of THE LONGEST lines at events.

And these parents WAIT with their babies for this exact moment.

And of course I appreciate it so much..

So unless it's like a specific character design, I'm usually mixing it up so that each person gets a unique design, even if they're picking the same designs.
