INDOT announces closure of Indian Boundary Road between 49 and Plaza Drive on Tuesday Sept 5

Indian Boundary Road between Ind. 49 and Plaza Drive East will be closed on or after Tuesday, Sept. 5, the Indiana Department of Transportation is reporting.

The closure will remain in effect for approximately four days, INDOT said.

The closure will expedite contractor Rieth-Riley Construction’s replacement of a pipe structure between Ind. 49 and Plaza Drive East. “The work is occurring in conjunction with intersection improvements at Ind. 49 and Indian Boundary Road,” INDOT said.

“Motorists should seek alternate routes during the closure,” INDOT added.

A reminder from the Town of Chesterton:

*The project at the intersection of Ind. 49 and Indian Boundary Road was planned and is being implemented and coordinated entirely by INDOT.

*The improvements in question are being constructed on state—NOT on municipal—right-of-way, over which the Town of Chesterton has no jurisdiction whatsoever.

On completion of the project, each of the four quadrants of the intersection will have double left-turn lanes.
