I’ve been holding off making this announcement but it is time to make it. Some may know already but for those who don’t I want to give you as much time as possible to get on my books! I have open availability for the month of October and tons of product I need to use still! I am STILL working the entire month of October so don’t rush to find a new stylist just yet. I will also provide a list of stylist I recommend on the last day that I am in the salon. I want to thank my clients from the deepest part of me for supporting my small business over the last four years. Starting out in the middle of a pandemic was tough but I was blessed enough to open my own salon 11 months into my career and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help and support of my loyal loving clients.

As a reminder I am only servicing current clients at this time. I am booking into October and only have one Saturday available. Make sure you are prebooking services to gaurentee you are getting in when you want! Also please make sure you are signing the cancellation agreement and reading it thoroughly. I do all online booking so you as the client can schedule your appointments when it’s best for you. My system sends three-four messages and emails for reminders and confirmation. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy, if you cancel less then 24 hours in advanced to your appointment time your card on file WILL be charged 50% of the service fee. I do ask if you or someone in your house is sick that you reschedule within a timely manner, I understand sicknesses can pop up over night and I will wave the fee if the appointment is rescheduled.

More and more I’m seeing a lot of people learning how to do nails from social media and doing services on other people while being unlicensed. * I would just like to note this post is for educational purposes and in no way am I bashing who did these acrylics.*

I understand we all have to start somewhere but it is SOOOOO IMPORTANT to make sure you’re properly educated on those services. Thankfully the acrylic that was on her nails wasn’t MMA however her nail beds were slightly damaged you can see one was lifted at the free edge with a deep indentation mark, and the acrylic was so thick it took me 45 minutes just to soak them off after filling them down. Nail applications should not cause damage if done properly. One of my main concerns with unlicensed techs doing nails is sanitation, this was a huge part of our education. So if you’re going to a home nail tech that doesn’t have licenses displayed please make sure they are using clean new implements if you choose to go to one. And that they are practicing proper application techniques and using quality products. It is super easy to get a nail infection if sanitation isn’t apart of what they are doing. Also please keep in mind you cannot be charged by someone who is unlicensed, you can tip them but that is it. If the person is caught charging for any service while being unlicensed they can be fined up to $7500 and loose the chance of ever becoming licensed.

Something people always ask me is how I came up with my business name. And I’ve never shared that on my page. When I was in cosmetology school it was a goal of mine to go back and get my barbers license so “faded” comes from men’s haircuts and fades. “Colored” is for my love doing different colors! After working in a barber shop for eight months I realized men’s haircuts weren’t my jam but you still do fades with certain pixie cuts and mature women’s cuts. And so it became Faded and Colored by Cortland! I picked this business name six months before I graduated and it stuck!

Good afternoon, with all of the bugs, Covid going around and school starting back up next week I ask that if you or anyone in your household are sick that you please reschedule your appointment. This helps ensure that I stay healthy and prevents me from picking any illness up so I don’t have to reschedule appointments. I will wave the fee if it’s less then 24 hour notice but please try your best to reschedule prior to 24 hours before your appointment so I can fill the spot.
