When the scalp won’t stop itching… 🧐 it’s time to figure out WHY. Trichologist hat: ON. 🔬
If your scalp has been acting up too, it might be time for a closer look. 👀

I didn’t start my career knowing that healthy natural hair would become my specialty.

It actually revealed itself to me over time.

The more natural hair I worked with, the more curious I became. I wanted to understand it, not just how to make it look good, but how to treat it, manage it, keep it healthy and help my clients understand it too.

Eventually, I realized… "This is my thing!"

Natural hair wasn’t just something I knew how to style. It was the area that made me want to keep learning, keep asking questions, keep solving problems, and get REALLY good at what I do.

Looking back, my willingness to lean into something new was the first step toward becoming the Hair + Scalp Therapist and educator I am today.

Your specialty isn’t something you choose in day one, it's paying attention to what keeps keeps coming to you and what keeps pulling you back.

For my fellow beauty professionals: When did you realize, “Yep… THIS is my thing”? 👇🏾

Hair getting done, music going, and somehow everybody joined the choreography 😂 Just another day at the salon.

Little moments… but they’ve added up to a whole career. 🤎

The shampoos. The trims. The curls. The transformations. The conversations. The “just take a little off.” 😂 The final looks and that first glance in the mirror.

After all these years, I’ve learned that doing hair was never just doing hair.

It’s caring for people, creating beauty, building relationships, teaching what I know and getting to do something with my hands that I genuinely love.

Just a collection of little moments that mean a whole lot to me.

Kinda chic to know the difference between doing hair and caring for it.
Because beautiful hair has always been the goal, but understanding what it takes to keep it healthy changes how you approach everything.
The products. The techniques. The heat. The tension. The maintenance. The decisions you make between appointments.
I don’t just want your hair to look good when you leave my chair. I want you to understand your hair well enough to make better decisions when I’m nowhere around.
That’s the difference between a hairstyle and hair care.

The early years behind the chair taught me that I was a coward.

Yep. I said it.

I learned that I didn’t really like myself. I lacked confidence, I was afraid to take chances, and there were parts of myself I hadn’t fully accepted yet.

But there was something about being behind that chair…

Every client. Every conversation. Every mistake. Every win. Every uncomfortable moment that forced me to figure it out.

Little by little, the same career that exposed my insecurities also gave me the courage to confront them.

Being a hairstylist didn’t just teach me how to do hair.

It gave me the courage to become the woman I wanted to be.

And I think sometimes we choose a career… and then somewhere along the way, it chooses who we become.

Has your career ever forced you to become a different version of yourself? What did it teach you about YOU?

That dryer cuts on and suddenly it’s my lunch break. 😂

Because hairstylists don’t actually schedule lunch… we just wait for somebody to process, deep condition, or get under the dryer.

You’ve got 20 minutes under there? Perfect. I’ve got 17 minutes to heat my food, eat it, check my phone, use the bathroom and somehow still be back before that timer goes off. 😭

My clients know the drill, if you see me eating, mind your business and enjoy that deep condition. 😂🤎

“What makes you happy?”
This. 🥹
Creating. Transforming. Caring for hair. Watching the confidence kick in when they see the finished look.
After all these years behind the chair, there’s still something about putting my hands in some hair and making it beautiful that does it for me.
The science and healthy hair education gave my work a deeper purpose, but the love of doing hair is where it all started.
And clearly… it’s still in me. ❤️
