Realizing that she had a passion for hair at the age of 11 years old prompted her to want to learn more about the science behind her craft. She went on to study under professionals at Capri Beauty College in 2014 and has taken those foundational skills to the next level. She has also had the opportunity to study under many Redken artists. Not only does she believe in the importance of natural hair
but also in allowing the space for all people to fall in love with their hair all over again. AJ’s first love is braids and natural hair but as a creative soul she has prioritized learning to work with all kinds of hair to remove all boundaries to what she can accomplish. AJ originally established and built her career in Chicago, IL where she had and still has the privilege to work alongside several producers and photographers throughout Chicago. Her eye for both fashion and artistry has caused her peers to coin her a true visionary. Her ability to look at a client or vision board and make sound decisions about the best style for someone; or ways to achieve a particular look or theme is truly impressive. Over the years she has accumulated several accomplishments to include over 20 fashions shows, over 100 photoshoots, 7 magazine covers, Walmart promo, and working with actresses from shows such as “The Chi”. AJ has also worked with brands such as Gucci, Adidas, Ivy Park, Timberland, Supreme, The Crayon Case, Kaleidoscope Hair Products, Iridium, Zara, and Akira. From AJ:

After many years in the beauty industry, my clients still express how they can see my love and enthusiasm. Whether in the studio, on set, in the salon, or just outside I talk hair to the people that have trusted me with their crown.
