✨ New product alert! ✨

I’m trying out Soulstruck by amika — a dry hair mask in an aerosol can that you can use right on dry hair. No shower. No rinsing. No waiting around with a mask on your head. 🙌

In this video, I’m showing you exactly how to use it and how simple it is to work into your routine when your hair needs a little extra softness, hydration, and TLC.

I love the idea of a hair mask you can use between wash days — especially when your hair is feeling dry but you’re not ready for wash day yet!

Would you try a dry hair mask? 💕

Thinking about embracing your gray hair but struggling with the texture?

For many women, going gray doesn’t just mean a change in color—it can also bring wiry strands, frizz, uneven texture, and hair that suddenly feels harder to manage.

The good news? You don’t have to color your hair to love it.

This keratin treatment smoothed the hair, reduced frizz, and restored shine and softness while keeping her natural gray exactly as it is. The result is healthier-looking hair that feels easier to style and maintain.

If you’ve stopped coloring your hair but miss the smoothness and manageability you used to have, a keratin treatment might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Gray hair deserves to feel just as beautiful as it looks. ✨

August Newsletter

I can't believe I'm writing the August Newsletter already. Summer has been flying by, and I hope you've been enjoying these last few weeks of sunshine, neighborhood festivals and time spent outdoors with family and friends. I've been looking forward to August all year because this month marks a few exciting milestones for me.

This month I turn 40, my salon turns 5 and I officially celebrate 20 years behind the chair. Looking back, I feel incredibly grateful for every guest I've met, every conversation we've shared, and all of the years that brought me to this point.

Over the past year, I've been especially excited to dive deeper into the business side of things. Creating new experiences, refining my services and finding new ways to make every visit feel even more special. I can't wait to continue sharing everything I've been working on and celebrate this exciting season with all of you.

In this newsletter, you'll be reading about:
Feature Presentation: Let's celebrate together
IYKYK: Post-summer haircare
Neighborhood News: Stardust Ice Cream at Bagel Miller

I have so much to celebrate this year and I want to share that celebration with you. That means I'll be celebrating your birthdays and anniversaries right alongside my own. Next time you're in, I'll have a quick contact form for you to update so we can celebrate all of your special milestones together. I've also created a VIP Membership as a way to thank the guests who have supported my business over the years.

Many of you have been with me since the very beginning, so I'm excited to introduce my Premier VIP Membership to you. The Premier Membership is earned after 5 years of visiting at least 6 times each year. The benefits include:

$65 referral rewards

Double product points

$20 review rewards

For guests who have been with me for a few years, I'm also excited to introduce the Signature VIP Membership, earned after two years of visiting my chair at least 3 times each year. The benefits include:

$45 referral rewards

Extra product points

$10 review rewards

I am truly thankful for every guest that has sat in my chair over the past five years and helped make this milestone possible. Your trust and support have allowed me to build a business that I love, and couldn't have done it without you.

Has your hair been feeling dry after a summer of sunshine, chlorine, and lake days? If so, it might be time to add a nourishing hair mask to your routine.

Soulfood: Amika's tried and true nourishing hair mask for dry hair. This rich, creamy mask deeply conditions without weighing hair down. Packed with vitamins, nutrients, and Amika's signature sea buckthorn, Souldfood leaves hair feeling softer, silkier and smoother. Apply to clean, damp hair, leave on for 5-7 minutes and rinse. Use weekly for soft, healthy-looking hair.

Soulstruck: Amika's newest leave-in dry hair mask in a no-rinse formula. This weightless spray works in seconds to soften and moisturize dry, brittle hair while boosting overall strength. Simply shake, spray from mid-lengths to ends, and brush through as needed for an instant boost of softness between washes.

Want to treat yourself? Add a nourishing hair mask to your next color or highlight service for just $20. Both products are also available in the salon and online.

Since we're celebrating this month, I can't think of a better celebration treat than ice cream. And now, you can enjoy scoops, cones, and sundaes right here in Lincoln Square this summer.

Stardust Ice Cream is a summer pop-up serving treats out of the walk-up window at Bagel Miller. Stardust partners with Youth Outreach Services and One Summer Chicago, providing employment opportunities to Chicago's young teens. It's more than just ice cream, it's a place for young people to gain their first food service experience in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.

Grab some friends, stroll down Lincoln Avenue, and celebrate the season with a scoop (or two). Make an evening of it by visiting the Thursday night farmers market, listening to music by the fountain, and relaxing on Bagel Miller's dog friendly patio with some delicious ice cream.

Here's to birthdays, anniversaries, five years in business, and ice cream on a summer evening.

Thank you for reading my August Newsletter. I'm so grateful for all of you and I can't wait to start celebrating with you. Enjoy the rest of your summer and I'll catch you back here in the fall.

Yours Truly,
Laura Jayne

Beautiful color deserves a beautiful shape. ✨

Sometimes your highlights are still bright, your color is still fresh, and your keratin treatment is still doing exactly what it’s supposed to. The only thing standing between “it’s fine” and “I love my hair again” is a fresh haircut.

Healthy ends, a refreshed shape, and effortless styling work together to keep your hair looking its best.

Beautiful hair isn’t just about the color—it’s about maintaining the whole look.

Your sunscreen shouldn’t stop at your skin. ☀️

Your hair needs protection from the sun, too. UV exposure can fade color, dry out your hair, and leave it looking dull. These three favorites help defend against UV damage while keeping your color vibrant and your hair looking healthy all summer.

Ask me which one is the best fit for your hair at your next appointment!

July Newsletter

Happy July! I hope you're enjoying the summer season so far. Chicago is kicking off the month with one of the hottest stretches of the year, and it certainly feels like summer has officially arrived. Between neighborhood festivals, evenings on the patio, concerts, baseball games, and weekend getaways, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the season. I hope you’re finding a little time to slow down and enjoy it all. And while you’re making summer memories, I’ve got a few tips to help keep your hair looking just as good as the rest of the season.

Here's what's in this month's newsletter...
Feature Presentation: 5 things that fade your color in the summer
IYKYK: Products with UV filters to help protect your color
Neighborhood News: Square Roots Festival

If your hair color doesn't seem to last as long during the summer, you're not imagining it. Between sunshine, swimming, and spending more time outdoors, your hair faces a few extra challenges this time of year. The good news? A few simple habits can help keep your color looking fresh and vibrant until your next appointment.

1. Sunshine
Just like UV rays can affect your skin, they can also fade hair color. Whether you're a blonde, brunette, or redhead, spending lots of time in the sun can dull your color and leave hair feeling dry. Wearing a hat or using products with UV protection can make a big difference.

2. Chlorine
Pool water can strip moisture from your hair and speed up color fading. It can also leave blondes looking a little dull- or even slightly green. Wetting your hair with fresh water before swimming and rinsing it immediately afterward can help minimize damage.

3. Salt Water
A day at the beach is good for the soul, but salt water can be drying for your hair. Dry hair reflects less light, making your color appear less vibrant. Following up with a nourishing conditioner or hair mask helps restore softness and shine.

4. Heat Styling
Your hair already deals with heat from the summer sun, so adding high-temperature styling tools every day can make color fade even faster. Whenever possible, lower the heat setting and always use a heat protector before styling.

5. Over washing
Sweaty summer days can make it tempting to shampoo more frequently, but every wash removes a little bit of your color. On days when your hair just needs a quick refresh, try reaching for a dry shampoo instead.

Remember, your hair color is an investment, and a little extra care during the summer goes a long way. Your future self- and your next salon visit- will thank you.

Summer sunshine is great for your mood...but not always for your hair color.

If you've invested in beautiful highlights or fresh color, UV exposure can contribute to fading, dryness, and unwanted brassiness. The good news? A few of my favorite products include built-in UV filters to help keep your color looking fresh between appointments.

Amika Top Gloss Shine Spray- If you love shiny, healthy-looking hair, this is one to keep on hand. This lightweight finishing spray tames frizz, adds brilliant shine, and contains UV filters to help protect your color while you're out enjoying the sunshine.

Amika Flash Shine Mask- Need a quick refresh? In just 60 seconds, this treatment mask smooths the hair, boosts softness and shine, and helps seal the cuticle. The added UV filters and amino acids help keep your color looking vibrant while leaving your hair silky and hydrated.

Moroccanoil Protect & Prevent Spray- This leave-in conditioning spray was made with color-treated hair in mind. It helps defend against UV exposure and environmental stressors that can cause fading and brassiness while adding moisture, shine, and softness. It's an easy step that helps your color stay beautiful longer.

A little extra protection can go a long way during the summer months. If you're not sure which product is the best fit for your hair, just ask me at your next appointment- or shop anytime through my online store. Your hair color will thank you!

Neighborhood News: Square Roots Music Festival

If you don’t know, the Square Roots Festival is a popular three-day summer street fest in Lincoln Square celebrating live music, craft beer, and local food. There is always a diverse music lineup curated by the Old Town School of Folk Music, spanning four stages, including one indoors. It ranges from rock to indie to folk and global sounds. There will be a massive showcase of Chicagoland breweries, including exclusive specialty tappings and collaborations. An expanded kid zone featuring family stages and inflatables will be taking over Leavitt St. Dozens of local Chicago restaurants, global food vendors and unique neighborhood merchants will also be there. Square Roots has always been one of my favorite festivals, so I will be there too. For more details on exact musicians, breweries and food vendors visit the link below. You don’t want to miss this one, so mark your calendars now for the weekend of July 10-12. Be there or be Square ;)

I appreciate you reading the July Newsletter. I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer. I'll meet you back here in August for a very special edition of In The Know, with yours truly.

Sincerely,
Laura Jayne
