Well I’m other news I’m still creating “BougieCuts”! I’m a artist and I’m sensitive about my ish, I just might “Willy wonka” you too if you got jokes 😂 (I had to do it).

So I have recently been having this discussion about hair loss and how tremendously terrifying it can be to those who suffer from it.

Last night when I called my mom and asked her did she see what had happened at the Oscar’s her first remark was how far blacks have came to be apart of the Oscar’s and that Will should have taken the high road. She also said Jaida has had her hair all types of ways as well as her daughter. And all of that is true but what we are dealing with now is more mental. There is one thing to cut your hair off because you want to make a statement and there’s another to cut your hair off because you have no other choice. (We want get into the fact that Will himself is dealing with a lot mentally and emotionally another day another post)

We take so lightly what black women deal with on the daily. Always expecting to be strong, stand tall, and be proud. And yes all races and s*x can deal with alopecia but when it comes to black women our hair is always so controversial, it’s our crown, and for many of us it can mean so much more. You never know what’s the story behind our hair or why we have chosen to wear a particular style it’s not always because it was the style of choice but a lot of times because we only had so many options.

I myself deal with hair loss off and on, skin issues, hell I had to deal with the whole structure of my face changing and it has been a constant battle mentally. Let’s not just say oh Chris Rock is a comedian so they should understand, so now it’s fair just because their comedians they can be disrespectful at any given time. So comedians get a pass at everything, there’s no line to draw? Yes I wish Will had addressed it at some other time given the circumstances but comedians can’t always get a pass. If our black men don’t take up for us who will?

I could not end my Friday without a fact check, so let’s get into it.

Yes majority of my clients are relaxed. Now there are instances where I will relax the sides and back which is called a partial relaxer. Reason being the client may want to color in the future or to give the hair more volume at the top.

Anyone wanting waves will also being needing a relaxer. Now there are some hair types (mainly 3c-4a) that can possibly go without a relaxer. Even then some of them may want to relax just for the longevity of a style.

I know my sisters want to embrace their natural textured hair and that’s amazing. I just want you to know that your hair is amazing rather it is natural, relaxed, colored or faded. We are a very versatile group of women and we can rock our hair in varies ways and still be that bish!! Lol

There are several autoimmune diseases and often times they can be very hard to diagnose. Here I will name a few that are common amongst women, that could possibly cause hair loss.

*alopecia areta
*psoriasis
*lupus
*hashimoto
*rheumatoid arthritis
*crohns

Reasons for the hair loss can be:
•the disease itself
•side affects of the medication for the disease or
•the stress of dealing with the disease.

In 2016 I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called . Prior to being diagnosed I dealt with my body going through many changes and pains. It took 8 years and several specialist before someone could finally tell me what I had. The stress of not knowing caused a major hair loss, as well as the disease causing my skin to itch terribly which also caused hair loss.

This is why it’s a must to know your body and know when something may not seem right.

Most of the time when my client comes in and has being suffering from hair loss, I’ll ask a serious of questions. I will give my professional advice of what I can do and then I will encourage them to go get a blood work up. Sometimes your stylist can only do so much, the next step is seeing your physician.

From my experience women 30 and up is when women are prone to these illnesses coming alive in their bodies. There a rare situations when it happens earlier in life.

Lucky people are also optimistic. They have positive expectations, which lead to self-fulfilling prophecies. Even if things take a turn for the worse, they can spot the good in a situation. Unlucky people might see the same situation and only point out the negatives.

I thought to myself I must be one of the luckiest people in the world then lol, I also know that I’m God’s child and he will never forsake me.

This journey called life has taken me through all types of obstacles and even in my darkest moments I remain hopeful!
