Let’s have a heart to heart about Luxe, shall we? I started making body butters about 5 years ago in an effort to help myself and my boyfriend (who is now my husband) with dry, itchy skin issues we were having. Store bought lotion wasn’t cutting it anymore and we had ordered a huge container of African Shea Butter. It was good, but I felt I could make it into something even better. I took that con
tainer and made what was the first incarnation of my body butter recipe and over time, after much research, trial and error, I came up with a final recipe that I was proud of, that my friends and family fell in love with, the very recipe in the body butters on this website. Here you will find those butters, and very soon, several other products that we will add in different forms. As an example, for those of you who want all natural skincare, there are the original butters, scented only with essential and infused oils. There will also be butters and some other preservative free products that are scented with fragrance oil, as many folks desire a broader range of scents. However, at some point there may also exist products that will absolutely require a preservative, such as water based lotions or emulsified body scrubs for example. In these cases, our desire is to stay paraben free, formaldehyde free, and phthalate free, etc. You get the idea, to keep as many of the nasties as we can out of our products with and without preservatives. What are we trying to say here? Well, in a nutshell…there are times when in the name of “natural”, little to no extra chemicals are necessary and preferable. The shelf life may not be as long as store bought products but as a goal, I’d like to only make products that you’ll use regularly anyway. But keep in mind, there are times when NOT having a preservative would not be responsible and will greatly reduce the shelf life and enjoyment of certain products. Either way, we will make it clear to you when we are aware that anything other than pure nature is involved in what you are putting on your skin. We hope you give us a try and love what you feel.
