Do a corrective bleach and tone on black hair with me
✨
Using x
Final part of our curly corrective bleach, the formula:
Dia Light
(3)9.01 + (1)9.2 + (2)10.24 + 6 Volume
When formulating there are only 3 colors that exist,
Blue, red, and yellow, so this is how my brain sees our final formula:
9.01 + 9.2 + 10.24

Step by step curly corrective bleach out, part three
So far we’ve:
•Tackled the new growth
•Lifted the banding on permanent color from a level 4 to 7
Now we are going to completely lift the band of the hair using Blond Studio 9 bonder inside and the 20 volume developer with an oil delivery system.
Stay tuned for the fourth and final: toning and formulation!
Curly corrective bleach, part 1
I did 2 sets of test strands a couple of months apart, which is why I was so confident going in with this game plan. If you can make it happen on a test strand, you can make it happen on the whole head. This is also the reason I don’t offer virtual or same day consultations. I need hours and sometimes even multiple sessions with the hair sample(s) to test. My clients put a lot of trust in me and I’m beyond committed to giving the best results possible. It’s old school, but I believe test strands are the unsung hero of color corrections!
I prepped with Metal Detox
I used Blond Studio 9 bonder inside with 20 volume at a 1:1.5 ratio
My color brush is 2 1/4” soft bristle
From shampoo to treatment I used Absolut Repair Molecular for this first process, because I wanted to focus on strength and repair
Stay tuned for part 2 removing that band of color
Do a curly corrective bleach with me ➿
9 hours, 4 processes, 1 session
I used a wide range of my toolkit from from Blond Studio, iNOA, Dia Light, Metal Detox, the list goes on.
Who’s ready for a deep dive style breakdown?
6. When my client in the middle of the day cancels, however this does not apply to the first or last clients of the day 😅
Finally got to put Keratin Alpha Sleek to the test, and just in time for Chicago summer!
Safe for all curl patterns! Smoothing, NOT straightening so you can truly use on all hair types and color treated hair.
It’s activated with heat in the salon, and then you can use it at home once a week for 4 weeks. After those 4 weeks, switch to once a week for best results ✨
Difficult to hit from brown to blonde in one session? Yes.
Unrealistic? No.
I used my tried and true Blond Studio 9 bonder inside
What makes this bleach and tone corrective are two things:
1. The grow out is 13 weeks. A traditional application typically falls within 5-7 weeks. So for the first pass of the application, I have to keep the lightener of scalp and then go back through and apply directly to scalp.
2. The hair loss from postpartum. This is extremely common and even normal, but the hairline needs to be done with care and held off until the end to avoid any further loss.
I’m using Blond Studio 9 bonder inside with 20 volume
The technique for applying bleach on scalp for postpartum hair is really the same technique that can be applied to anyone suffering through hormonal changes. Think endometriosis, PCOS, someone prescribed SSRI’s, Hashimoto’s, IVF, etc
1. Apply the hairline (or wherever the hair is most fragile) last.
This hair is already incredibly fine and fragile so it will lift extremely quick.
2. Process at room temperature.
Any added heat can cause swelling and overlap, which is super dangerous and can lead to irreversible damage.
3. Keep your bleach consistency thick.
I usually like a 1:1.5 ratio, but I’ll go as thick as 1:1 for even more control around the hairline. Bonus that that lighter will dry out quicker as well.
I use Blond Studio 9, bonder inside & 20 volume
