Is embracing change the new permanent fixture?
As product launches become more frequent and customer preferences shift faster than ever, retailers are rethinking how their stores are designed.
Enter modular displays: flexible shelving, tables, and fixtures that can be easily moved, rearranged, and refreshed as needs change.
Brands like Uniqlo are embracing this approach, creating stores built to evolve alongside new products, trends, and promotional campaigns.
Spaces that embrace modular design are becoming more adaptable, generating less waste, and keeping the shopping experience feeling fresh for customers.
As retail continues to evolve, store design will be expected to move just as quickly. The good news is, modular retail fixtures can keep up with the need to reimagine a space at a moment’s notice!

90% of retailers are using AI but most of them are struggling to create long-term results. Here’s why…
Retailers are racing to adopt AI, with nearly 9 in 10 already using or piloting AI solutions. Yet most never make it beyond the pilot stage.
Analysts say that’s because breakdowns most often occur in stores and distribution centers, where connectivity, devices and even data reliability can create chaos.
AI is only as effective as the environment it's operating in. If cameras are outdated, internet connections are unreliable, or inventory data isn't accurate, AI can't do its job, no matter how advanced the technology is.
As AI becomes a bigger part of retail operations, many retailers are finding that success starts with getting the basics right. Strong networks, reliable devices and accurate data make it easier to turn AI investments into real results.

The internet's favorite collectibles have officially escaped the algorithm.
From blind boxes to brick-and-mortar brilliance, Popmart is unboxing a new era of retail.
Remember Labubu and the collectible craze that took over TikTok?
Fueled by that trend, these viral characters are showing up far beyond your feed, with POP MART expanding to more than 60 stores across the U.S. and Canada.
Their flagship locations, including the sprawling two-level destination at Westfield Sydney, are designed as immersive brand worlds where fandom comes to life.
Shoppers who first discovered Labubu, Molly, and Skullpanda online can now interact with them in-store and through augmented reality.
By scanning QR codes throughout the space, visitors unlock gamified treasure hunts, shareable AR filters, and interactive moments tied directly to POP MART's iconic IP.
The internet may have sparked the obsession, but the store is where the fandom comes to life.

Retail therapy meets dinner reservations.
Yutori, a newly opened Japanese concept in Palo Alto, CA brings both together under one roof.
Start with a miso latte and a wagyu sando from the café, browse shelves stocked with specialty knives and artisanal pantry goods, then return in the evening for a full dinner and pan-Asian cocktails.
The 6,000 square feet space is organized around a Japanese garden, with each room flowing naturally into the next.
Retail, restaurant, or both? The better question is: why choose?

Every room serves a course in history at Elmina in Washington, D.C.
Spread across three levels are materials that shaped the transatlantic trade - to***co, cotton, indigo, sugarcane, metal, and wood.
The restaurant celebrates the richness of African heritage while encouraging reflection on the journeys, struggles, and resilience that helped shape it.
That same sense of storytelling carries into the food.
Ghanaian-American chef Eric Adjepong describes the menu as “a love letter to the ancestors and recipes I grew up with.” (Wallpaper*, April 2025).
More than just a restaurant, Elmina shows how a space can spark conversation, honor the past, and help people connect with their roots.

Nature is making a comeback in retail, and business is blooming because of it.
More and more retailers are taking cues from nature -- swapping hard edges and rigid layouts for soft curves and flowing shapes.
It's called biomorphic design, and once you notice it, you start seeing it everywhere.
These design choices aren't just about making a space look beautiful, they actually change how consumers move through it. Curved fixtures, rounded counters, and fluid pathways make a store feel less intimidating and more inviting.
This encourages us to slow down, wander a little longer, and explore areas we might have otherwise skipped.
After spending so much of our day staring at screens and navigating digital noise, there's something refreshing about a space that subtly draws us in. Turns out the smoothest move in retail right now happens to be fewer sharp edges.

We found an oasis on the busiest street in London. No, really.
In November of 2025, Rituals Cosmetics opened a “Mind Oasis” on Oxford Street, one of the loudest, busiest retail destinations in London.
Inside, they created the quietest room in the building.
The lower ground floor is all low lighting, soft textures, and layered sound. You settle into a zero-gravity chair while breathwork, light therapy, and sound gently pull you into a meditative state.
And it completely booked up before it even opened. In a city with endless wellness options, the thing people wanted most was a place to slow down.
That’s what makes spaces like this feel important. The best retail experiences right now are thinking about how you feel once you’re inside. The lighting, materials, pacing, and details you barely notice consciously are what make people come back again and again.
And in a world where rest has become a luxury, Rituals figured out how to build a store around it.
