Did you know most med spas edit their before and after photos?

They leverage different lighting, angles, and sometimes even filters to make results look more dramatic than they really are.

The "before" photo is usually taken under the worst possible lighting, to make you look as bad as possible.

Then the "after" photo usually have some soft lighting, a better angle, maybe a little editing on top of it.

So the transformation you're seeing online isn't always real.

That's why I always tell people, before you book anything, ask to see unfiltered photos.

Ask to see someone with your skin tone and ask what the results look like 6 months later.

Not all locations will give you everything you need to know.

The one thing most people don't know about clear skin, is that your skin can actaully heal all by itself.

We've been sold and told by the beauty industry that we need barrier serums and barrier creams to fix our skin.

But those products are really just a temporary bandage.

They help protect against external stuff like wind, cold, and harsh chemicals.

They don't actually heal a damaged barrier.

Instead, the real healing comes when we eat, sleep, and take care of ourselves better.

When we do that, our skin naturally bounces back on its own.

A question I get a lot from friends and family is, "Xiya, what kind of sunscreen should I use? Does it matter what SPF it has?"

To keep it simple, the SPF matters less than what's actually in it.

I always recommend a mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide. It gives you physical protection instead of chemical protection, which is much safer for your skin.

And if you can, go with a tinted one.

It also blocks blue light from your phone and screens, and it gives your skin a nice natural glow without needing extra makeup.

So Daniel's sister moved to the States from Spain, and just a few weeks later, her skin started flaring up.

She started getting breakouts, redness, and sensitivity.

So she was wondering, “What should I do if I have sensitive skin?”

If that sounds familiar, the answer could lie in one of these questions:

1) What products are you using right now?

2) Does your skin react right away, or does it build up over time?

If it's right away, your skin just can't take that ingredient. Stop using it.

If it's over time, then something is weakening your barrier.

Maybe you're using too much makeup, or maybe you're switching products too often.

3) What changed in your life?

When you move to a new place, your food changes, your environment changes, and your gut bacteria changes too. And your gut shows up on your skin.

So before you add more products, slow down.

And test to see what causes your reactions.

That way you’re not guessing what the real problem is.

Our skin routine should only be a small part of our lives.

Yet many of us obsess over which serum to use, which ingredient is trending, and what new product just dropped.

All that stress builds up until one day, the stress shows up on our skin.

And it does more harm than most products do good.

So I want to share a reminder today.

Your skin doesn’t define you.

It’s just a small piece of your life.

And if you want to be a beautiful person, that beauty comes from within.

It comes from how you carry yourself, how you treat people, how you take care of your body as a whole.

Your personality, your discipline, and your peace of mind.

The beauty part is just one habit alongside all the other habits that make you who you are.

So take care of your skin, but don't let it consume you.

Keep it simple, keep it small, and go live your life.

Here are 3 things most people think are good for their skin, but actually hurt it over time.

( #1) Setting sprays: These sprays lock your makeup in place, and their main ingredient is alcohol. Over time, the spray dissolves your natural oils, dehydrates your skin, and makes your redness worse.

( #2) Pore strips: These strips feel incredibly satisfying because you see the blackheads come out. But you're actually stripping your natural oils and stretching your pores larger every time you do it. The pores fill right back up, and over time they just get bigger and never shrink back down.

( #3) Low-quality sheet masks: These make your skin feel hydrated and glowy right after. But most of them are loaded with preservatives and fragrance that trigger inflammation over time. It's a temporary fix that slowly weakens your barrier.

So don't believe everything you see promoted online.

Instead, focus on better sleep and better food.

This will do more for your skin than any product will.

Here are 3 side effects of Botox most people don't know about until it's too late.

1 — Botox weakens the muscles underneath your skin. And over time, those muscles shrink, thin out, and your skin loses its natural support.

2 — When you stop doing Botox injections, you can actually look older than before. Because those weakened muscles can't hold your skin up anymore, so your skin starts to sag, and the wrinkles come back deeper.

3 — Your body can become immune to it. Some people do it for years, and then it just stops working. At that point, the damage to your muscles is already done.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying don't get Botox.

It can absolutely work for some people.

I just want you to have the full picture before you decide.

But if you'd rather preserve your skin naturally.

We always hear about the importance of eating and sleeping well, but most of us take it for granted.

Your skin rebuilds at night while you rest.

And what you eat provides the natural lipids and collagen your skin needs to stay healthy.

No cream or serum can replace that.

So if you have poor sleep and a poor diet, your skin won't heal.

And no product is going to fix your skin either.

Skincare only treats the top layer, because it can only pe*****te so much.

But sleep and food heal from within.

That's why I always say good food, good sleep, and low stress should be your baseline.

Get that right first, and then the products you do use will actually work the way they should.

Most people think they need a ton of products every night to have great skin.

But that's not true.

Not counting sunscreen, you really only need 3 or 4 to have smooth, healthy skin.

That's because your skin can only absorb so much.

So the more you pile on, the harder your skin will have to work to absorb the products.

And if you apply too much, the creams and serums won't even help.

They might actually irritate your skin more than anything.

So you'll end up wasting your money and time.

That's why the best thing you can do is simplify.

I actually spent the last 15 years simplifying my own skincare routine down to just 4 products.

It only takes about 15 minutes, and if you want to see it for yourself.

Check the link in my bio.

Most of us give skincare products too much credit, and think that the right serum or cream will clear everything up.

But we never give our sleep, diet, or stress levels enough credit.

I know because I used to do the same thing.

About two years ago I had pigmentation that kept showing up on my cheeks.

I tried so many different products, but nothing really changed.

Then I noticed something strange.

When I slept better, it lightened up...

And when I was stressed or overthinking, it got darker again.

It made me realize no product would fix it.

But better sleep and better food did.

Your skin shows you what's happening inside.

And sometimes, the answer isn't on a shelf.
