Over my years of being a bridal hairstylist, here a few wedding day misconceptions that can cause you to run late.

❌”𝗗𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿”
✅Fact: Clean hair styles better.

Why? Oil and grease will weigh the hair down, cause the style to look matte, and curls won’t hold. Hairstylists can add grit but we cannot remove oil and grease (not even with dry shampoo).

❌”𝗪𝗲𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲𝗱”
✅Fact: The style won’t hold and your hair will get damaged.

Why? Water and a curling iron do not go together. This will damage your hair and the style will not last if there is any moisture in the hair.

❌”𝟴 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀.”
✅Fact: Larger bridal parties require more time.  

Why? It takes on average about 1.5 hours for the Bride’s hair and 45 minutes per Bridesmaid’s hair service. 

❌”𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆.”
✅Fact: Curls will lose shape, frizz up, and go flat in humidity.

Why? When the weather is high in humidity, there will be moisture in the air. I recommend doing an updo if you know you’ll be outside in high humidity weather.

Well, it actually started as a hobby years ago. Doing wedding hair was a side gig that I loved and I was good at it. 

And I really enjoyed doing it.

📚That’s why in 2014, I decided to take a leap of faith and I enrolled in the Aveda Institute school to obtain my cosmetology license. And I’ve been doing bridal hair full-time as a career ever since.

🔑Key tip: Always use dry products to build the foundation to your work and then use soft creamy products to control frizz and add back in the shine. Lastly, use finishing products to lock in your work!
