Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her acting roles in "Harriet the Spy," "Gossip Girl" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," has died at the age of 39.

Law enforcement responded to a 911 call Wednesday morning at a Manhattan apartment building and found Trachtenberg "unconscious and unresponsive," according to a statement by the NYPD. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene and no foul play was suspected.

Born in New York in 1985, Trachtenberg landed her first on-screen credit in 1991 with an appearance on "Law & Order." She would go on to act in several projects for Nickelodeon, including "Clarissa Explains It All," "The Adventures of Pete & Pete" and the title role in the 1996 feature film "Harriet the Spy."

In 2000, she joined "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" in its fifth season as Dawn Summers, the younger sister of Buffy. She appeared in every episode of the cult show's remaining three seasons.

From 2008 to 2012, she regularly appeared alongside Blake Lively and Leighton Meester on "Gossip Girl" as the group's antagonist, Georgina Sparks. She recently revived her role for two episodes in HBO Max's reboot of the series.

She also appeared in the films "Richie Rich's Christmas Wish," "Inspector Gadget," "Ice Princess," "EuroTrip" and "17 Again" and the hit TV shows "Six Feet Under" and "Weeds."
