I know that this topic may seem so played out to you as clients but it really is true - your lash artist can be the best in the WORLD & still really struggle through an appointment when the canvas shows up with oily lashes. As someone who prides myself on offering 2-3 week retention, I am here to tell you that I have to use 2x the amount of adhesive on a client who shows up with dirty lashes just to get a good attachment.
When there is oil on your natural lash, the adhesive is shock cured and literally repelled away from the natural lash - this causes space between the oily natural lash & the extension, giving the opportunity for the extension to come flying off at even the slightest touch. If you haven’t purchased a good cleanser from your lash artist yet, now is the time to do it. Hear me out:
1. Unless a client pulls out their eyelash extensions or is on a medication that causes hair loss, retention is always the lash artist’s fault
2. Your client's lack of knowledge of the lash extension service says more about you & your lack of education or research to resolve issues in your business
3. Just because someone has gone viral from lip syncing to funny reels doesn't mean that they are experts in their field. When you look at their page, are your learning anything? Or are you just spending money to meet someone because they are popular?
4. No great lash artist became great simply by working on clients. If you are too scared to invest in your education or cancel nights out to sit in your studio & practice - you will never be as great as the artists that you look up to.
5. Some adhesives may perform better in specific environments, but people who know how to read their adhesive by sight and consistency are able to use it no matter what their lashing conditions are.
6. With practice, you can grow into your prices just as quickly as you can grow out of them! Better to start high than work your ass off just to raise you prices $5 once a year and take 10 years to get to your desired rate.�What say you?

We hear it all the time - “I won’t get extensions because they ruined my lashes last time.” Lash extensions didn’t ruin your lashes, the lash artist you went to ruined your lashes.
Here are a few ways to know whether your lash artist has your natural lash health in mind:
1. Your extensions should never hurt
2. If you just got a fill or a full set, you should not still have extensions that are overgrown at the base
3. Your lashes should never be falling out in clumps that are adhered together (this can also happen if you wear heavy makeup & don’t cleanse properly)
4. You shouldn’t consistently have patches of lashes that do not have lashes healthy enough for extensions (however, this can also happen if you pick out your extensions)

Hey lash artist, does this sound like you?

I started lashing in 2015 and it did not come easy to me! It wasn't until 2019 until I truly started to feel comfortable with lashing & that was after I took four. trainings in one year 🥹. Trainings are awesome ways to pick up new tricks but implementing the tips when you leave is the hard part - it's so easy to get overwhelmed and fall back into old habits.
Here is what I did to get me where I am now:

🪤 If you don’t have a full clientele, work a full 8 hour day. That means, if you only have 3 hours of clients, spend the other 5 hours at work practicing. This doesn’t have to be on models, in fact, I suggest that you don’t practice on models until you feel more confident - why? Because you don’t have to worry about feeling rushed if your model is getting antsy.
🪤 If you do have a full clientele, practice outside of your working hours and SAVE those fans to use on your current clients if you begin to run out of time when implementing your new skill.

RETENTION will save your life. I tell every single student, after isolation, retention is more important than any other skill that you will learn. Retention buys you the time to practice and to gain speed because you don’t have to worry about rushing to beat the clock.

"Charge your worth and add tax."
There is a market for everyone - you can charge bottom of the barrel prices and work 10 hours a day to make ends meet or you can pull the lowborn, price yourself higher and work less to allow yourself more freedom. While it will always take longer to build a clientele at a higher price point, the rule I always reminded myself of was that I can grow into a higher price point just as quickly as I can grow out of a lower price point.
