A month in, and we still have chairs open and the suite available.

I am not in a hurry to fill them with the wrong people. It is a small room and everyone in it has to be somebody the others are glad to see on a Tuesday morning.

But if you have been thinking about it since the first time I posted and you have not sent a message because you were not sure, send it now. The worst thing that happens is we have a coffee and you decide it is not for you.

THE TURN, No. 2

Extensions go wrong in one place. Where they meet your own hair.

If there is a hard edge, or if they are matched to the wrong thickness, they announce themselves the moment the wind moves. That is the difference between hair that looks like it belongs to you and hair that looks borrowed.

We match how thick your hair is first and desired length second. Then we blend them after they go in, never before, so the ends melt into whatever cut you already have.

Can she can wear it up? Absolutely, which is usually the real test.

Bring 2 or 3 photos of what you like, and 2 or 3 of what you don't.

We know why people bring seven. You're trying to show us a feeling. But seven photos usually point to seven different results, and you end up with something in the middle that nobody actually wanted.

A few of each gives us something clear to aim for. From there we can tell you honestly whether your hair can get there, how long it will take, and what it costs to keep it that way.

And while we're on the subject, fall requests have been very consistent this year: warmer and darker. Deep browns with caramel through the ends. Auburn. Soft copper. Hardly anyone is asking to go lighter.

That's good news for your hair, because going darker is much easier on it than going lighter.

It is a small room filled with people who are good at what they do and genuinely glad to see each other on a Tuesday morning.

THE TURN

She wanted dimension and fullness without putting more lightener through her own hair. So we did just that.

The panel of solid brown in the middle is her actual hair, untouched. Working with the previous highlighted hair and a great root melt, we added blonde and caramel throughout with extensions for dimension and warmth.

This is the part most people do not realize is an option. If you have wanted to be blonder but you have been talked out of it, or you tried it once and your hair did not forgive you, this gets you there without sacrificing the health of your own hair.

The heart of the job is the blend. We will custom color your extensions to seamlessly blend into your own hair and every install is finished with a cut to top off the blend.

Most people do not know this one exists, so here it is.

When your color has gone dull, you do not always need a whole color appointment. There is a shorter one that just brings the shine back. It goes over the color you already have. It does not change it and it does not go lighter. It is called a gloss, so you can ask for it by name.

It is the difference between hair that looks flat and hair that catches the light.

Most people want one about halfway between color appointments, so every four weeks or so. Sooner if you wear red or copper, because those fade fastest.

Sixty minutes, and a lot less than a full appointment.
