First retie after install. Due to circumstances, we pushed it to 8 weeks, normally the first retie is at 6 weeks. Even so, the retie was completed in 4 hours, and there were only 2 unraveled locs. They are looking absolutely lovely. The color is added hair. I’ll see her again in a few weeks.

This was my final microloc install of 2025 and what a way to close out the year.

This install was a 15-hour service, broken up into two days at the client’s request. She selected small micro twist braids, twisted all the way down with minimal leave-out at the ends and interlocked at the root. She also chose a braid-based toggle method, which typically results in less unraveling, especially for this texture.

Because of her texture and chosen start method, it was important to approach the install carefully and delicately, while also providing thorough guidance on between-care and maintenance.

Originally, the client wanted extensions, but the QVR hair she ordered did not arrive in time. She purchased a replacement from a local beauty supply, however, the texture was 4C while her natural hair is 3C, which would not have blended seamlessly long-term, the difference would have been clearly visible.

For reference, I always recommend:
QVR hair for looser textures and Exy hair for coarser 4C textures when using extensions.

She is absolutely in love with her install, and I didn’t close the door on extensions. She can always add them later with hair that truly matches her texture for the most natural finish.

We did add a few pieces of Auburn QVR hair for a subtle peekaboo color, but 90% of this install is all her natural hair.
