Echo Alley Barbershop

For those who do not know Charles “Chuck” Senior passed away on May 9th. He worked as a barber where Echo Alley is for over 50 years.

I only had a handful of interactions with Chuck. When I first met him he immediately started making fun of me. This made me like him right away.

Every few months after opening he would pull up next to the shop, usually eating an ice cream cone, and wave me over while I was giving someone a haircut. He would ask me what I thought of his truck or Cadillac and wait for praise. Then he always wanted to make sure I was enjoying the shop and staying busy.

Chuck made his last stop by the shop on February 12th right before the super bowl. He pulled up, rolled his window down and waved me outside.

I brought out an unopened box of orange and black cupcakes to see if he wanted one, thinking he surely wouldn’t want me to open it up. He shamelessly demanded one then laughed at himself for getting icing all over his hands and steering wheel. He asked me if I was busy and if I was having fun, and I assured him I was .

So many Chuck stories have been shared in the shop since opening and each one is better than the last. Wish I could share all that I’ve been lucky enough to hear. He was an absolute Mt. Washington legend. 💈❤️💈RIP CHUCK

Robin “Rob” Morgan would have been 60 years old today. The robin bird logo is a tribute to him as well as the photos of him on his childhood basketball team that hang in the shop. Will definitely be having a Gin and Tonic tonight. Happy Birthday
