We want to be upfront about something, and we say this with full love for every client: Fine Gold Locs only works with your natural hair. No extensions. No added hair. Just you. 💛
Here’s why this is important to us:
🌿 Extensions prevent your natural hair from locking properly. The hair needs to intertwine on its own to form a true Loc.
⚖️ Added hair creates extra weight and tension at the root, which can cause damage and thinning over time.
✨ True SisterLocks™ and MicroLocks are designed specifically to celebrate and work WITH your natural texture, and it is more than enough.
If you’ve been worried your hair is “too short” or “too thin,” let’s have that conversation in your consultation. You might be surprised.
We believe your natural hair is beautiful exactly as it is. Let’s build something lasting with it. 💛

Here’s something worth knowing before you start your Loc journey: not all tiny locs are SisterLocks™. The grid system is one of the key things that sets them apart, and it’s a big reason why choosing a certified consultant matters so much.
The SisterLocks™ grid isn’t just a style choice; it’s a patented method. The specific parting pattern used during your installation determines how your Locs will grow, how they’ll retighten, and how they’ll look for the rest of your life.
If the grid isn’t set correctly from the start, you can end up with:
❌ Uneven-sized locs
❌ Parts that shift or disappear over time
❌ Difficulty with future retightenings
At Fine Gold Locs, we are trained in the SisterLocks™ grid system, and we take every installation with the precision and care it deserves. Because this is your hair and it’s for life. 🌳

Ever wondered why SisterLocks™ look so precise and uniform? That’s because of something called the Grid System, and it’s one of the things that makes SisterLocks™ truly unique.
The SisterLocks™ grid is a specific pattern of parts and sections that is mapped out across your entire head before a single Loc is installed. Think of it like a blueprint, every loc has its own designated space and follows a consistent parting pattern.
Why does this matter?
✅ It ensures every Loc is the same size
✅ It keeps your parts clean and defined as your hair grows
✅ It creates a foundation that holds up beautifully for decades
✅ It requires a trained, certified consultant to execute correctly
This level of precision is what separates SisterLocks™ from a basic Microlocks install. It’s a craft, and we take it seriously. 💛

Saving this for all our clients, new and returning! 📌
We love seeing you walk through our door ready and prepared. Clean hair isn’t just a courtesy; it’s one of the most important things you can do to get the most out of your appointment with us. 💛
Here’s the thing: heavy oils, butters, and styling creams don’t just sit on the surface. They work their way into the Loc structure and can actually prevent your hair from locking properly. Over time, that buildup can lead to mildew, odor, and weakened locs.
We care too much about your hair to let that happen. So here’s our gentle reminder:
🧼 Use a clarifying or residue-free shampoo before you come in
💧 Let your hair dry completely. Damp locs during interlocking can cause issues
🚫 Skip the product until after your appointment
You take care of your hair, and we’ll take care of the rest. 🌿

We have one non-negotiable request for every client: please come to your appointment with clean hair. And here’s why it matters so much more than you might think!
When your hair has product buildup, oils, or residue:
❌ It’s harder for us to see your scalp and assess your hair health
❌ The interlocking process doesn’t grip as well
❌ It can slow down your locking progress
❌ It can cause scalp issues over time
Clean hair gives us the best canvas to work with and gives your locs the best start possible. It’s not about perfection; it’s about care. 💛
We recommend washing with a clarifying shampoo, if you need moisturizer, after shampooing, finish it with a moisturizing shampoo (only for matured Locs) 1–2 days before your appointment. Come with hair that’s fully dry for the best results.
Have questions about the right shampoo to use? Ask us at your next visit or book with our Team at finegoldlocs.com!
There’s something special about sitting down, slowing down, and leaving with your crown refreshed. 💛
Consistent retightening isn’t just about appearance—it helps maintain the integrity, structure, and long-term health of your microlocks. Clean parts and secure roots create a stronger foundation for healthy growth.
✨ Healthy locs thrive with consistency.

If you’re in the middle of your loc journey and you’re looking at your hair, wondering “is this normal?” we hear you, and the answer is almost certainly YES.
The teenage stage of locs is real, and it can be really discouraging if you don’t know it’s coming. Here’s what we see all the time:
🔸 Locs that look puffy or uneven
🔸 Frizz at the roots or tips
🔸 Locs that feel like they’ve “lost” their shape
This is NOT a sign that something went wrong. This is your hair actively going through the locking process. The fibers are intertwining, the structure is forming, and maturity is on its way.
Our job at Fine Gold Locs is to be with you through every stage, not just the pretty ones. We’ll keep your locs healthy and on track from budding all the way to maturity.

One of the most important things we can tell new clients: your locs are going to go through an awkward phase, and that is 100% normal.
Here’s a breakdown of the 3 stages your hair will go through:
🌱 Budding Stage: Your hair starts to coil, and the locs begin forming. They may look a little fuzzy or undefined. Be patient, the foundation is being built!
🌿 Teenage Stage: This is the “awkward middle” stage where locs can look uneven, puffy, or unpredictable. This is normal! Your hair is working hard to lock.
🌳 Mature Stage: Your locs are fully locked, beautifully defined, and feel more like your own hair than ever. This is what all those early days were for. ✨
Understanding these stages helps you stay encouraged through the process because every stage has a purpose. 💛
