Have you ever felt a tight, rope-like band beneath your arm after breast surgery?
This may be axillary web syndrome, commonly called cording. It may extend through the arm and limit comfortable shoulder or elbow movement.
Do not aggressively pull, stretch or massage a suspected cord without proper guidance. An oncology rehabilitation professional can evaluate the area and recommend appropriate treatment.
Save this post, share it with a survivor and follow Tuch’D Therapy for education about recovery concerns that are often overlooked.

Have you ever felt blamed for what your body experienced?
Risk factors provide information. They do not determine someone’s worth.
Body weight may influence lymphedema risk and management, but lymphatic swelling is a medical condition not a moral failure. Survivors deserve respectful assessment, realistic support and care that considers the whole person.
Results-driven wellness can be honest without being shameful. 💗
Share this with someone who needs compassion included in their care, and follow Tuch’D Therapy for education without judgment.

Were you given a long list of things you could “never” do after lymph-node treatment?
Recommendations about blood-pressure cuffs, blood draws and injections are more individualized than many survivors were originally taught. Decisions should reflect your surgery, current symptoms, individual risk and available alternatives.
When practical, an unaffected area may still be preferred but your medical team should help you make informed decisions without unnecessary fear.
What precaution were you given without an explanation?
Save this for your next appointment and follow Tuch’D Therapy for education that replaces fear with understanding.

Do you know exactly where your radiation was delivered?
Radiation involving regional lymph nodes may affect lymphatic pathways and increase the possibility of swelling. Your radiation location, lymph-node surgery, current symptoms and medical history should be considered together.
Treatment may be completed, but its effects can remain relevant to future care.
Request a copy of your radiation summary and keep it with your survivorship records.

Do fewer lymph nodes removed mean there is no lymphedema risk?
Not exactly. A sentinel-node biopsy usually removes fewer nodes than an axillary lymph-node dissection, which generally lowers the risk but does not reduce it to zero.
Every survivor’s risk is influenced by their individual surgery, radiation, healing history and other factors.
Do you know how many lymph nodes were removed during your treatment? If not, that is a great question for your medical team.
