All new color guest are required a consultation before I can book an appointment. This is to ensure that you have a great experience. It will allow me to know your hair, and your hair, history, where your hair is at currently, and what your hair goals are. With this information, I can book your appointment time appropriately, which allows me to stay on time for the rest of the day, and to not feel rushed, and so I can allow you to know how much time you can expect to be there, so you can plan the rest of your day accordingly. It will also allow me to give you a more accurate estimate. Some salons have a standard appointment booking time for each service and price. Mine are customized to each individual because every head of hair and situation is unique, no two heads are the same.. Sometimes, goals can be met, sometimes it’s as close as possible, and sometimes we need to discuss an alternative as we go over realistic expectations. I am a firm believer in clear communication is the result of “happy hair”. 😃

I have been terrible about Social Media for the last couple of years. Trying to get back at it, so I thought I would re-introduce myself, for anyone new here.
I have been in the industry for 31 years. I began working in the salon on commission, moved to a full service salon and spa, and then I moved to a small salon where I became an independent stylist. This was perfect for me, as my children were little, life was busy leaving time for minimum education only. When my children were almost out of high school, time freed up, and I decided to elevate my education. I began extensive training in what I loved most, hair color. this education allowed me to not only understand the the hair itself which I never realized, how important , all of this was, but it allowed me to dive deep into the chemicals I am using, and then putting this all together.
I now work in a salon suite, on my own, specializing in hair color, particularly lightening services.
I am a mom of four, a “ Nonna” to one, and one on the way. I love dogs and I have a German Shepherd mix who was a rescue. I am a vegetarian, however, I still cook meat for my family, and I also have my dog on a raw food plan which includes serving her raw meat . I do not watch much TV, I enjoy spending time outside in nature. I am a big theme nerd , and love to host theme parties for family and friends. My morning routine always starts with prayer and coffee and then I try to get in a little bit of yoga. I love organizing! If I had another career it would be party planning, organizing or interior design. My biggest hobby at the moment is spending time with family. That is all I can think of for now, I have become very simple over the years.🙂 Do we have anything in common?

It’s almost that time of the year, transitioning to fall color. Let’s talk about that. If you love your highlights in the summer, particularly if you do not like what most of you referred to as, “ brass”, you are going to want to keep your transition subtle. For instance, If this is the color that you like in the summer, a good transition would be to grow out your regrowth, let that come down some more, depending on The situation of your hair, you can possibly even give a one time shade darker on the lighter ends. Similar to what I am talking about in the second picture of this slide. What you should not do, is have it darkened to similar to the last picture. Why? February and March come around and you want to start going lighter, you are not only going to have all of your own natural underlying pigment to cut through, but artificial pigment from the color used to darken. What does that mean? If you have followed my post on here often you see what I referred to as the underlying pigment ( red/ orange, orange, orange yellow…….. what you all refer to ass, BRASS). We ALL have these underlying pigments naturally. It is not just your hair that “ pulls” warm, everybody has warmth , it is exposed when you chemically alter your hair. But as I said, it makes it twice as difficult to get through that once you have darkened with hair color. Depending on the length of hair, and how many times you have done this lighten /darkened, add highlights/ lowlights , Will determine if your hair can safely be lightened to that point again. I am not at all suggesting to not transition just make sure you are having clear communication with your stylist about what this means in the future and make sure you have a stylist that also understands what that means for your future appointments. I will be showing a few more examples of this coming up in future post.

PLACEMENT! I see this brought up so often in classes. This is an area that has never been a problem for me. It’s hard to explain, it just came natural, and I don’t know if that’s the artist part of this industry or what. I have learned so much from many artists as far as color goes, but the placement part, I self taught. I look at a color, and I think to myself, “what would it take to achieve that”. And from there, I began experimenting trying different techniques, and where to place. I have met very few artist like this along the way. I remember once having a conversation with one, as we talked about we see techniques and placement taught in classes, and we think to ourselves, “I already do that”, there is just now a name for it. Think- teasy lights, root tap, melt…….. yep, these are some of the things we were already doing. The creative in us thought of these on our own. I will be honest, I never shared it, because I questioned if it was “right “in the Hair color world. lack of confidence, lack of confidence to share, and I should not have been, because I knew it worked for the end goal! Moral of the story, sometimes, don’t overthink, let your eye, and mind guide you, just do it! And also, confidence is everything in the industry. If it’s working, don’t be late to the game, don’t be shy about it, share it 😉😊

Warm, cool, bright etc. , Let me tell you about this color. We consulted, went through a couple photos, most of them were a cool blonde, but still natural looking. Now let’s be honest, these cool, ashy blondes can be hard to achieve, depending on the situation. Because of underlying pigment, it is always easier to achieve a warmer, BRIGHTER, blonde. That said, Ayach blonde is not necessarily what someone always wants. Especially once they see it on themselves. You guys, IA was able to lift her up perfectly because of no previous color and her texture, and then able to get her to the most perfect ash blonde I have ever seen, I mean PERFECT! End it was beautiful on her. However, when this guest looked at it, she saw “ almost grey”. What she really wanted was some warmth. Not brassy, but warm. I wish I would have taken a picture before I went in and gave her the warmth she was looking for. But moral of the story, ash, cool, it’s not always what guest are looking for, you can have warmth, without brass, and finally…….. I am having fewer and fewer request for cool blondes and more for the warm and I am loving, this trend of the warm natural blondes!

We are well into the summer, Hair is chemically treated, you are likely spending time in the sun, maybe even swimming,😬, And although the natural texture of summer hair is beautiful, some of you are still blow drying, smoothing and curling. Please make sure you are protecting your hair color investment. This is one of my favorite shampoos and conditioners. While my daughter knows the importance of proper hair care, she is human and about a year and a half ago was so unkind to her hair , multiple times a day flat iron to smooth out her curls, on top of her highlights, swimming in the summer etc. just this year she began to notice the effects and began taking her hair care routine serious. This shampoo and conditioner has been a lifesaver on her hair. It is like an entirely different head of hair than it was a year and a half ago. In addition to this she was using leave in treatments and alternating between protein and moisturizing treatments, some of them including olaplex. She would use the shampoo and conditioner Until it was gone, and then switch to for about 4-5 weeks, and back to olaplex. Protein treatment was Cat, and her leaving, she alternated between olaplex and Miracle treatment.

Thanks Mary Ann, for “ decorating” my sad tree! 😆

Um, no! Please do not go get this. If you have watched me style your hair, I begin the curl at the root, not at the end as this does. And often, leave the end in iron very little time. This will give a “ set” look, not the loose beach waves. Your hair always takes curl better at the ends…….. this will result in unnecessary damage. I am grateful for my teen daughter that comes across these so I can educate! 😊❤️
