What should you look for in skincare products?
It’s not just about fancy packaging or big promises — it’s about ingredients, safety, and performance. Here’s what to keep in mind:

🔍 1. Clean, effective ingredients
Look for products that are free of harmful chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and parabens. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid, peptides, vitamin C, and niacinamide are powerhouses for hydration, brightening, and firming.

🌿 2. Transparency
A trustworthy product will clearly list its ingredients and explain what they do — no mystery formulas.

📊 3. Proven performance
Look for clinical testing or real-life results — not just marketing claims.

🚫 4. Ingredient safety standards — This is HUGE.

That’s why I love using and sharing products that meet European Union (EU) standards.
The U.S. bans or restricts only about 30 ingredients in skincare and cosmetics.
The EU bans over 1,300.

Let that sink in. 1,300 ingredients are not considered safe enough in Europe — but are still allowed in many U.S. products. 😳

Choosing products that meet EU standards means choosing higher safety, cleaner ingredients, and peace of mind.

You’re not just caring for your skin — you’re protecting your health.

💜 if you want or need help finding products that meet these standards and actually work? I’ve got you covered.
Comment EU and we can figure out together what will work for you.

Why is skincare so important after 40? 💧✨
(For women and men — this is for all of us!)

As we age, our skin naturally changes — and taking care of it becomes less about vanity and more about health, prevention, and confidence.

Here’s what happens after 40 and why skincare matters:

👎 Collagen production slows – leading to fine lines and loss of firmness
😫 Skin becomes drier and thinner – hydration is a MUST
⛅ Sun damage starts showing up – dark spots, texture, and uneven tone
😕 Cell turnover slows down – hello dullness and rough patches
👁 Under-eye puffiness and sagging – because life, stress, and sleep…

BUT with the right skincare:

✅ You can boost hydration and firmness
✅ Reduce the appearance of lines and discoloration
✅ Improve texture and tone
✅ Feel great in the skin you’re in

It’s not about chasing youth — it’s about honoring your skin, aging with confidence, and feeling your best at every stage. 💜

Let me help you build a routine that works for your 40+ skin — simply and effectively.

Let’s talk about alcohol in skincare. 🍷❌ (Not the kind you drink… the kind in your products!)

Not all alcohols are bad — but some can be harsh, drying, and irritating, especially for mature, sensitive, or dry skin.

🚫 Alcohols to AVOID:

These are short-chain alcohols that can strip your skin and damage your barrier:
• Alcohol Denat. (denatured alcohol)
• SD Alcohol 40
• Isopropyl Alcohol
• Ethanol
• Methanol

These alcohols are often used to give products a “quick-dry” feel, but over time they can cause:

❌ Dryness
❌ Irritation
❌ Sensitivity
❌ Breakouts (yep, especially in oily or acne-prone skin)

✅ Alcohols that are OK (and even beneficial):

These are fatty alcohols, and they’re often used as emollients (moisturizers):
• Cetearyl Alcohol
• Stearyl Alcohol
• Behenyl Alcohol
• Cetyl Alcohol

These are non-drying, help lock in moisture, and can be great for dry or aging skin.

🧴 Bottom line:
If you see the “bad” alcohols near the top of the ingredient list — especially in toners, gels, or acne products — that’s a red flag 🚩.

Choose skincare that hydrates and protects your skin barrier, not one that breaks it down.

💜 Want help checking your products? I’d be happy to take a look!

Well… it’s been 1 year ago today that we officially moved into our new home in Clarksville, TN to be here when our first granddaughter was born and to be an everyday part of her life. It was sad to leave where we had called home for the past 23 years, I miss my friends, it was hard to find all new doctors etc, it wasn’t the most financially smart decision we ever made hahaha (interest rates were 3x what we were paying), BUT it was the best decision we ever made!!!
Happy 1 year to us in our new home and here is to many many more!! 🥂
